I holded out mine hand out towards Skye who took it with a smile and sat closer towards me.
Twelve years, I have waited for this moment. Twelve years I dreamed every night about her and how our child would look like and now they sat here together.
"Look Da," Eilidh took my attention and pointed out towards the strange painting, it was one of Skye with a wee Eilidh in her arms.
"She was just born here, the nurse took this picture." Skye explained and Eilidh showed another painting
We sat down like that for a while, watching more paintings while Eilidh explained everything.
"That was in a Zoo Da," Eilidh said. "There were little lions born and mama took me to see them," she pointed to a small cat like animal. "They played with me,"
"Ah mind that th' wee chups also played wi' yer mither in versaille," I looked at Skye who smiled when thinking of that day. There was a knock on the door and Skye quickly grabbed the pictures out of our daughter' hand.
"Milord, Milady?" Fergus walked in and smiled softly.
"Fergus sit down," Skye jumped up and pulled a chair towards the table in extiment.
Fergus sat down and took a piece of bread. "I still can't believe to see you Milady," he shook in disbelieves his head.
"I'm still can't believe you have grown so big, the last time I saw you, you where what? 10?" Skye grabbed his hand. "I never forgot you Fergus, you where always there in the back of mine mind."
"And so where you Milady," he smiled at her and then looked at Eilidh. "How old are you?"
"Ten," she answered proudly and I saw Fergus shot a look at me and Skye before he could say anything Eilidh asked him further. "Are you French?"
"Yes I am," Fergus looked surprised at her.
"Mama took me there last year, she said she and Da lived there and they met ye there," She smiled.
"Quie, they met me there," Fergus smiled back at her and Eilidh suddenly yawned.  "Should I take her now?" Fergus asked taking it as his clue to leave with her.
I saw Skye hesitated and then nodded. "You can Fergus." She stood up and walked towards her bag as I sat Eilidh down.
"Here you go Lieverd, you go with Fergus for the night. I'm here if you need me, but Fergus protects you if something is wrong, okay?" she said in her Mother tongue to Eilidh, who nodded, Fergus and I shared a look and then I saw that Eilidh looked at me.
"Is Da still there when I come back?" she asked concerned.
"A'm aff tae be 'ere whin ye wake M'annsachd," I smiled and before I knew it she hugged me, I felt my eyes water again and stroke through her fire red hair. "Goodnight,"
"Goodnight Da," she walked over to Skye and hugged her. "Goodnight mama,"
"Sleep well darling," she pressed a kiss on the hair of Eilidh who then walked over to Fergus, grabbed his hand and walked out of the room.
"Finally alone," I smiled as Skye sat down at the table.
"We need to talk Jamie," she said in a serious voice and I felt mine heart shatter a little bit.
"yeah we need, twelve years is a lang time." I sat down in front of her.
"William," She began. "His mother? Did you love her?"
"No, ah ne'er did," I began. "She died durning childbirth,' I swallowed. "Before her mairriage she cam tae me, she fancied me 'n' didnae wanted her foremaist time tae be wi' her husband."
"So you decided to be the hero and took her before he did," She raised her one eyebrow a bit and  I shook my head.
"she threatened 'n' blackmailed me wi' a letter Jenny," I explained. "to stoap her ah slept wi' her."
"And that's how she became pregnant?" Skye's voice was icecold and I nodded. "Did her husband knew?"
"I think, whin th' laddie wis born, he wanted hee haw tae dae wi' him, sae her sister decide tae raise him." I explained having a hard time doing it. "I left whin he wis a week auld," I swallowed and Skye quickly took my hand.
"Stop Jamie, I know enough," she promised me.
"I ne'er loved somebody else forby Skye," I promised her and she smiled. "And ye, did ye mairie Ben?"
She shook her head. "I kindly told him to walk to hell," she smiled. "He visited me in hospital after I came back and was happy to see me, until I told him that I was married to another man and that I was carrying that man' child," she smiled.
"He didnae teuk it gey weel, ah guessed." She shook her head.
"Neither did my parents, mine father although did return when Eilidh was a week old.," she shrugged her shoulders. "I was happily living my life as Skye Fraser-Stork with Eilidh and mine dad in Edinburgh, worked and after that spend time with my daughter."
"Ye ne'er changed yer name?" I asked surprised.
"I promised at the altar and before God that I took your name within my grave James Fraser, I tend to keep that promise." She smiled. "But if there are other ties at your side."
I stood up. "A'd burned sae lang fur ye, dinnae ye ken that?" I took a deep breath and she also stood up. "Bit ah'ament th' men ye juist tae ken, ye 'n' ah, we ken ilk ither less than whin we're foremaist wed,"
She got a sad look on her face. "Do you want me to go?" she asked as I saw her swallow. "I could take Eilidh and le..." I didn't let her finish.
"Nae God, nae," I walked towards her. "Ah juist git ye 'n' mah daughter back. A'm waantin' ye tae stay wi' me," I took her hands. "Bit a'm waantin' tae ken, dae ye waant me?"
She looked me straight in the eye and laughed softly. "Who ever you are James Fraser, I want every bit of you," she smiled. "But do you want me? for all you know I become a horrible person in those twelve years."
"I dinna care Mó Grádh," I stepped closer to her and felt her breath on my lips.
"Well neither do I," she laid her hand in mine neck and pulled me closer.
Reconnecting our lips after what felt like forever.
