Jamie laid knocked down on the table and I stood beside him, while the surgeon helped him.
"Here aunty," Wee Jamie gave me a bottle of whisky. "Eilidh is doonby wi' ma, ah heared her say something aboot baking,"
"Hmm," I took a sip. "Eilidh would love that,¨
"Urr ye aff tae forgive uncle Jamie? He wis a fankle whin he tought ye whaur death." Wee Jamie told me and I looked at him.
"I don't know Jamie," I laid mine hand on his shoulder. "He did hurt me with it, We'll see if he survive this first." I gave a nod to the surgeon and walked towards the kitchen.
I indeed found Eilidh there, covered in flour and laughing with Janet and Michael. "Mama," She looked at me. "Where making bannocks."
"Really," I stood next to her and ignored Jenny who gave me a puzzeling look. "I really love bannocks, escpecially when you make it." I pressed a kiss on her hair.
"How is Da?" she pressed her lips together and I shruged mine shoulders.
"Alive and breathing, with an arm that looks like Swiss cheese," She giggled.
"Greer?" Jenny asked me and I looked at her. "Kin we blether ootdoors?"
"Sure," I gave Eilidh another kiss and walked after Jenny who made the kids promise to not go near the fire. "What is it?"
"Wha urr ye pure 'n' whaur wur ye pure they past 10 years?" She placed her hands on her hips and I tried to look at her like I not understood it. "Aye, dinnae speil that gam wi' me Greer or dae a'm needin' tae ca' ye Skye," I froze and Jenny saw that. "Whin ye foremaist turn up 'ere ah tought ah heared Jamie called ye that name bit ne'er thought aboot it. Noo he called ye that again whin he returned fae Culloden wi' a heich fever, again ne'er thought aboot it, blamed it oan th' fever, bit then lest nicht 'n' this mornin' he called ye Skye again. Sae wha urr ye really?"
"Jenny you wouldn't understand." I tried to answer but she holded her hand befor mine face.
"Aye, ah likelie wilnae, bit ah every story soonds mair believable than that ye spend 10 years, wi'oot really looking guid fur Jamie, in th' Dutch republic. Ye wid hae stayed 'ere searching every blade o' grass 'n' under every stane." She fired back. "Fur that is th' Greer, ah ken 'n' saw whin he gaed tae wenthworth."
I filled tears again and I wonderd how much I could cry this past days before I de-hydrate.
"Sit down and call Ian if you like," I took a deep breath. "I will tell you mine full story," She looked at me and then turned around.
"Catch up wi' me in Ian' study," She said and she disappeard."A'm needin' a dram," After the whole story Ian stood up and walked towards the drinking cabinet and pulled himself a large glass of Whisky.
"I told you it would sound insane," I looked at Jenny who pressed her lips together. "Go ahead, gather everybody in Lallybroch and tie me to a stake."
Jenny finally cracked a smile. "We wull nae dae that......." She hesitated. "Skye," she finally said with the biggest smile ever. "That name fit ye better than Greer,"
"But I will prefer that you keep calling me by that name," I looked at them beggingly and they both nodded. "I did tried to look for him in the beginning, But there was no trace of him to be found, even with mine connections and the godmother of Eilidh to help me, so I gave up. But mine father and Ray never did, they found the paintings and with that they search further and further. Found the aliasses that Jamie used, eventually we found a pamflet printed by A. Malcolm. It was for the fact that he had printed a qoute in it that was not even written yet. that I finally believed it."
"Auntie Greer," Wee Jamie knocked on the door and walked in. "Uncle Jamie is awake 'n' he is asking fur ye 'n' Eilidh."
"I will come down to see him soon." Wee Jamie nodded and walked out. "Please don't tell anybody this," I begged Ian and Jenny.
"We promise ye that we wull tak' this tae oor kist." Jenny gave me a hug. "Noo gang doonby 'n' catch up wi' yer guidman, he haes some explaining tae dae 'n' if he insae telling th' hail truth ye kin grab him by th' baws. Sisters order." I laughed and walked out of the living room to face Jamie.
