We arrived at Carfax Close and it was indeed the printshop that was on fire.
"Christ," Jamie put his coat tighter around him and rushed to the stairs.
"Jamie what are you doing?!" I called after him but he ran in.
"DA?!" Eilidh called after him aswell and I pulled her closer to me as Jamie disappeared into the Printshop.
"Stay back," the firefighter pushed as back and I felt Fergus holding me aswell.
"Why did he go in?" I asked Fergus.
"I 'ave no idea Milady," he answered but I heared that he lied.
"Fergus, tell me the truth now," but before he could answer we where pushed further back by the firefighters.
"Da." Eilidh whispered as the flames grew higher and higher.
"Please Jamie, come back," I prayed and suddenly the door opened and Jamie rushed down the stairs. Clutching a few things tightly against his chest and landed just on the street before the stairs collapsed.
Jamie ran towards me while coughing and even tho he smelled like fire, I clutched him tightly.
"You stupid fool," I gave him a smack and he chought with a faint smile. "Come we go back to the Tavern there is not much for you to do here," I pushed him away from the Printshop together with Eilidh. But before we walked out of the close I saw Jamie turning around watching how his business that he had build up in not much than 6 months was destroyed. We had decided that the next day there was nothing for us left here and we had rode out to Lallybroch. Eilidh who was, just like her father, a natural in horse riding loved galloping through the Highlands. And the closer we came to Lallybroch the more I felt mine heart grew bigger and when it came in sight I did felt mine heart explode.
"Welcome hame," Jamie said with the biggest smile and I saw Eilidh' eyes widened.
"It's bonnie," she said and I smiled.
"It certainly is," I took a deep breath and then something hit me. "What will Jenny say?"
"Ian likelie tellt her awready, dinna fash yirsel. She is prepared," with that he gave his horse the sign to run and Eilidh followed quickly just like I did.
We rode through the gate, as we ascended the horses the door opened and Jenny rushed outside but stopped as she saw me.
She looked at me for a while like she couldn't believe it was me. Which I totally understood.
But then without a word she pulled me towards her and I felt her tears stain mine coat. I hugged her back and then she finally letted me go.
"Whin Ian tellt me ye hud returned. Ah coudnae hawp it. Ah aye cannae," she finally spoke.
"I fully understand that," I tried to smile but it was hard. I was to emotional.
Jenny then looked at Eilidh who half hided between me and Jamie.
"'n' ye mist bin Eilidh then, a'm yer aunty. Jenny," she sank on the ground and holded her hand out towards Eilidh who shook it.
"Nice to meet ye Aunt Jenny. Momma told me a lot aboot ye," she said and I smiled at her. I indeed told her stories about Lallybroch when she finally figured out the truth.
"Aye? Is that sae? Hopefully ainlie th' guid ones," she gave me a wink. "Come ben. Ye mist be hungert efter sic a lang trip. 'n' Greer. A'm waantin' tae ken everything. Tis bin twelve years fur god's sakes." She laid her hand on Eilidh' shoulder and pushed her in. I looked at Jamie who gave me a faint smile.
I didn't know what I had expected but this welcome was certainly not it.A/n
No I'm not making Jenny that bitch she was to Claire when she returned. I always had the idea in my head that after the first book Jenny became close friends with Skye/Greer out of gratitude for what Skye/Greer did after Jamie was wounded after Wentworth.
