Disclaimer: I do not own any characters you recognise, they all belong to Sarah J Maas, I only own Sophia. Also there is a section that I will put in italics that is from a book called Kate Daniels Magic Bites which I loved, so I didn't write that!

🐺🐺🐺CHAPTER 12🐺🐺🐺
It's been two months since my kidnapping and I couldn't be more happy. The first few weeks were hell, nightmares plaguing my sleep. I would waking up thinking I was back there. Aelin helped me through it and we grew closer. She hadn't dropped her idea that Fenrys and I were perfect together and I hadn't told her that we were mates because that would just encourage her.
Talking of Fen, I spent most of my days with him when Aelin had her queenly duties (stupid and wastes of time according to Aelin). He made me laugh so much but was also so kind and I felt myself falling utterly in love with him. Phew. Never thought I would say that. My heart raced every time I saw him and when he grinned at me it skipped a beat. I loved getting to know him and more than once I found myself picturing me in a wedding dress and him in a black and white tux and you know what this is getting creepy I'm going to stop now. But it was true. I couldn't picture myself with any one else. While he complimented me and fake-flirted I couldn't actually tell whether he liked me or not. Ugh boys. Soooooo complicated and they say we're the complicated ones.
Fenrys had travelled to the southern continent last week for some court business and I missed him so badly it ached. I was constantly in a bad mood which I blamed on my period whenever I snapped at someone by accident. Aelin seemed to notice with that sixth sense of hers and tried to hang out with me more.
I shifted the huge stack of books under my arm and used my leg to kick open the door to my room. I laid the books on my small table and stopped when I saw beautiful dress laid out on my bed. With my mouth dropped open I ran my hand along the fabric. It was silky beneath my hands.
"SUPRISE!"
"SHIT!" I swore as Aelin jumped out with jazz hands.
"Hehe sorry." I placed my hand over my racing heart and glared at her.
"What's the dress for?"
"For you. I'm having a ball."
"Does Rowan know?" She hesitated.
"No...But it's my birthday ball so he can't argue."
"And he has to dance with you."
"And he has to dance with me." Aelin repeated smirking.
"Wait so is this my dress?" Aelin nodded as a grin spread across my face. I launched myself at her and hugged her tightly.
"I know you've been upset about Fenrys being gone-"
"Uh no I'm on my period." I tried.
"-so I thought the ball might cheer you up. And you can look good this time." Aelin continued and I smiled at her, my heart lifting at her kindness.
"What do you want for your birthday?"
"Oh you don't have to get me anything."
"By that I mean get me something." She added on with a whisper and I laughed.
"Right, off I go. Preparations to be made. The ball's tomorrow."
"What? Tomorrow? And you're telling me this now." Aelin winked and strolled out the room. I turned back to the dress. It must have cost her a fortune. The red fabric was tight at the top and puffed out at the end. I was going feel like a princess! AH I CAN'T WAIT! For the first time since he left I felt truly happy.
