Mary Anne's p.o.v
The math work I was being forced to do made want to shoot myself in the head. I didn't get it, and literally the mix of numbers and letters were making my eyes cross. Today was my "I do not care and you can't make me care." day. I had on one of Mathews hoodies, a pair of frayed blue jeans and basic vans with my hair pulled up into a messy bun.
Once I was finished my work and turned it in, I pulled out my book the outsiders and leaned way down in my seat to get comfortable. In all honesty, I could totally compare this book to high school. We had preppy boys, who drove mini vans and wore collared shirts. Then you had the real boys. I had a real boy.
Of course, I'd have my fair share of the mix of preppy boys and real boys. This one boy Bradley Thompson, he was a preppy boyfriend I'd had once. He always wore a sweater with a dress shirt underneath with khakis to match. He was nice, but he cared too much about his parents money, which was a huge reason why he broke up with me.
I don't think Mathew would break up with me over money, I think he'd break up with me over something real.
The bell rang and I threw my bag over my shoulder, heading out the door. I walked into the restroom and fixed my hair, I had strands sticking out in all directions. A girl rushed into the bathroom, crying, her face splotchy and red, tears soaking her cheeks. She locked herself in a stall and I automatically felt bad.
I walked up to the stall and my knuckles wrapped against the door. "Are you okay?" I ask softly and I hear her unroll some toilet paper from the roll, most likely to wipe at her eyes.
"No.. My boyfriend just broke up with me for my best friend." She cries and unlocks the door, I pull the unknown girl into a hug, letting her cry into my shoulder.
"Hey.. It's gonna be okay, if he wants to treat you like that, he's not worth dating anyways." I assure her, with a soft smile and she nods.
"Thank you.. I just wish it could have went differently." She says, stopping the tears now.
"It's okay, I've had rough break ups too, it'll all work out." I assure, rubbing a hand on her back.
"Well thank you for being so nice to me, your a great person." She says and I smile.
"Don't mention it." I say and she smiles with a wave.
"See you around." She says and I just nod with a smile.
My phone buzzes in my pocket and I pull it out. "Hello?" I ask and I hear a the familiar sound of music.
"Hey babe, I'm right outside, where're you at?" Mathew asks and I lean against the sink.
"On my way out, I just got stuck talking to this one girl." I say and I hear him cough. "Feeling any better babe?" I ask and I hear him crank up the AC.
"Head still hurts, I'll feel better when your by my side." He says and I feel a blush attack my face.
"Okay, I'll be right out." I say in a suffocated voice, that was so sweet!!
I hang up and stuff my phone back in my pocket, rushing out the school doors, I see him standing in front of his car, sunglasses on, arms crossed, smiling strait at me. I run to him and wrap my arms around him with a smile spreading so far across my face.
"God I missed you." He says into my hair and I kiss him passionately.
"Same." I whisper, our foreheads touching, our eyes never losing contact.
"Your dad wants you home?" He asks and I nod, he kisses my forehead, "I'll sneak in tonight, don't worry." He says and I giggle. "Come on, let's go before your dad had a chance to chop my balls off." He says and I burst out laughing getting into the truck.
