Chapter 5. Sympathy

Finally, after what seemed like forever Zalán, Yazni and Vaslena arrive at the so-called "Slovenian edges". Many rumors spread around that whoever visited this cold would die in an instant. Lucky for them, they were surprisingly still alive.
-Soo...Here we are-
-Ughh!! Finally!! This was torture to walk here!!
Yazni said out-loud.

-Well let's go-
Vaslena stopped Zalán from taking a step forward and pointed in the distance, it was a massive ice border, which looked nearly impossible to climb.
-We have a problem.
Vaslena said as she frowned.
-No. It's alright, maybe we can make a hole through the wall..-
-Or maybe there's a gate we can go through?
Yazni interrupted Zalán.
-Maybe...we should check it out anyway.
With that said they all started heading towards the ice border

After 10 minutes they arrived in front of it, it was quite far anyway.
They all looked up and then at each other.
-Ok. So this---ice border thing is huge and it's hard to climb. So we either, A: try to climb it; or B: try to dig a hole or something.
Yazni suggested.
Zalán and Yazni both thought for a bit, and only then they heard a massive shattering noise from behind them. They quickly turned their heads to see Vaslena who just broke a little hole in the wall, They were both stunned at how powerful she is.
-How the fuck..?!
Yazni jumped in amazement.
-Come on, before anyone sees us!
Vaslena grabbed their hands and went inside the border. On the inside, there were trees covered in snow, ponds frozen from the cold, and far away in the distance, a little village. Zalán, despite shivering from the cold, enjoyed the view.

They walked for sometime when eventually they stopped near some cliffs. They sat down behind a boulder on the ground and they started chit-chatting for a bit so they would keep themselves a bit entertained.

After a bit of talking, They heard something from behind them. Its presence felt big, they weren't sure what or who It was but they stood frozen.
They heard some walking and then it stopped. They peaked from behind the boulder to see a massive bird that looked like it was made completely out of ice, it was laying calmly in the snow, resting. In front of the bird, however, there was a girl with long dark blonde hair and blue eyes. She was wearing a dress that seemed like it was made out of snow and ice, She looked like the person they were looking for.
Zalán kept on looking at the girl, she looked quite different from Yazni and Vaslena. She made Zalán feel far different.

-Who is she?.
Yazni said looking cynically at the girl from the distance.
-She looks like she is the one we need to find.
Vaslena replied.
Zalán snapped out of his daydreaming.
-Yeah yeah, she is the one. I'll try to go to her.
-Wait Zalán, what if that bird she has attacked you?
Zalán thought for a moment, then reached into his messenger bag to grab out an axe. Why does he carry that around? I don't know.
-I have an axe if anything bad happens...I don't want to hurt her though...

Zalán muttered up the courage to slowly approach the girl.
The girl didn't notice Zalán behind her, she was looking down at a flower, a simple flower. She sighed, her breathe was so cold the flower froze.
Zalán looked at what just happened in amazement.
-Wow...
He said quietly, but it was hearable.
The girl jumped and quickly turned around with a shocked face.
-Frigid! Don't let him get close!

As she shouted that the Big Raven got up from the ground and slid right in front of Zalán, who was looking equally as shocked, it was ready to attack.
-Wow wow wow!! Wait!! I'm not here to hurt you!!
Zalán dropped the ax he had in his hand.
There was some silence until finally the girl, who was on the ground before, got up and walk in front of Zalán. She didn't say anything just stared at him.
They stared at each other awkwardly for a little bit.
-You....don't belong here...do you?
Zalán shook his head.
-How did you get here...All by yourself...?
-Well Uhm...you see...I'm not quite alone...
He looked at the boulder where Yazni and Vaslena were hiding, he waved so they could come out. They slowly appeared from behind the boulder and walked behind Zalán.
-So you came here prepared?... Interesting. Most people that come here don't survive the extreme cold.
That kind of shook the 3 of them.
