Chapter 21. Boy by the riverside

Valentino decided to take Zalán with him, well it wasn't really his decision but the others told him to take care of Zalán since they sure couldn't trust Mist right now. The two got placed down near the riverside and watched as the others flew away. -Ok. So let me set this straight. Because the first time we met you were acting like a moron. No mockery, no jokes, no anything. We have to be laser-focused.- Zalán said, directly looking at Valentino, puffing his chest out too, trying to make it clear. -Alright little dude. Listen, I might act like a moron but I know when shit gets serious. Like right now.- Valentino grabbed Zalán by the hand and both of them started walking. 

-God...I'm terrible at interacting with people that are stronger than me...how do we do it?- Zalán mumbled it out, but it was audible enough for Valentino to hear. -Well...You are talking to a strong person right now soo...I don't think it's going to be complicated.- -Hmph...Guess you're right.- Zalán smiled and at the sight of that, Valentino did as well. -Just try not to get lots of attention towards you-

-Woah!- Somebody's voice echoed from behind. -Ah shit we already got noticed.- Valentino grumpily said under his breath. They both turned around to see a boy in the water, just staring at the both of them with big eyes. -One of the royals AND The Seeker? I didn't think I'd get so lucky!! I heard so many things about you two! How you stole a key and betrayed The Emperor! It's such an honor meeting you both!!- Zalán, despite being a bit afraid, felt a warm sensation. It felt nice, having to hear somebody being a fan of what you do. He missed that feeling. -Ok ok yeah I get it you're a fanboy woo. But listen here little seafood-reeking freak, I don't want you going to other demons telling what our plans are.- Valentino said in a harsh tone. -Sorry...I'm just very excited to see you both...- The boy lowered himself a bit more into the water, letting himself float away from shore more. 

-Wait!- Zalán shouted after the boy. -I'm sorry Valentino said that.- He gave Valentino a death glance then looked back at the boy and continued. -I'm glad that I've made your day by just being here...but you see I'm in a rush and I can't really have time for a conversation.- The boy got closer to shore and looked up at Zalán. -Ohh...I'm sorry for wasting your time! But may I know what's the current mission? I really want to help!!- The boy gave a big and bright smile to the two. It made Zalán's heart melt.

-Well looks like we already got a willing participant!- Valentino walked up to the boy and looked down. -But can you get out of the water and fight?- -Well...yes I can but Mr. Cronos says that I'll leave a mess because I leave puddles everywhere.- The two looked at each other. -Mr. Cronos? Who's that?- Valentino asked. -Follow me! I can show you where he lives! He can help as well!- 

As the boy said that he submerged in the water more and started swimming towards the forest. Valentino and Zalán shrugged and decided to follow him.

On the way there they had a small conversation.

-Soo...what's the mission??- The boy asked again. -Well...we're going to battle and we need to recruit a lot of people for battle. I don't know how you could help though...- -I can drag enemies into the water and drown them! If they get too close to the shore of course.- The water boy interrupted Zalán. Valentino raised his head at that and looked back at the boy again. -Continue...- -My ancestors have always dragged down enemies for food and stuff...but we don't really do that anymore. Well, at least I don't.-

-Ok. That sounds like a good attack. Guess you can stay.- Valentino smirked, and the boy got really excited at this and started spinning around, creating a small whirlpool around him. -Eeee!! Can't wait!!-
