Chapter 4. Rose maze

It was really late, Zalán and Yazni were both very tired, mostly Zalán.
-Ughhhhhh.....Zalán please let's rest we have been walking FOREVER...!
Yazni whined and stopped walking.
Zalán sighed and looked at Yazni behind him.
-Alright...I'm exhausted anyway.
-GOD!! Finally!!
They walked over to some trees and lay down, it was pretty cold in the mountains and Zalán was shivering. Yazni glanced over at Zalán and slid closer to him, she covered Zalán with one of her wings and smiled.
-I don't want ya' to freeze to death..soo uhh well..yeah.
Zalán smiled, closed his eyes, and instantly fell asleep, soon after Yazni did too.

Zalán awoke to something poking his nose, it was sharp, he opened his eyes and rubbed them, and he looked up to see a figure much taller than him. It looked well..human, almost. It had torn off wings, and the face of the figure was looking tired...like it hasn't slept in weeks. It took a couple of moments for Zalán to realize that the thing that was poking his nose was in fact a spear. His eyes widened but he didn't move, he glanced at the figure again, his vision was a bit clearer now, it was a girl.
-Name?...
The girl spoke in a monotone tone;
-Z-Zalán...
Said Zalán...he was still shivering from the cold.
-Reason you're here?...
-W-we are looking for a c-creature and we needed r-rest...
-Proof?...
Zalán cautiously reached into his messenger bag to not wake up Yazni, took out the book, and showed it to the girl.
The girl took the book and read a bit into it. After reading it she took the spear away from Zalán's face.
-How interesting.
She gave the book back to Zalán.
To Zalán's shock, he saw that the girl's face was covered in scratches, her arms and legs were covered in bruises and so much more.
There was an awkward silence until Yazni slowly woke up. She rubbed her eyes and looked up at the girl.
-Hm.....who is she?

The girl raised her spear again.
-I'm Vaslena.
-O-oh....no need to raise your weapon..we mean no harm...
The girl's face turned serious.
-Yeah...like I could trust you...
Zalán looked closer at the girl's face, there was a flower on it, and he realized that the girl was one of the creatures they were looking for.
-Quelle?... (what?)
-I-i...You are the one we are looking for!
Said Zalán excitedly.
Vaslena quickly got scared by this, she didn't want to hear the words "one we are looking for" for a lot of reasons.
She pointed the spear at both of them again, she was ready to attack them if needed.
-Wow wow wow...calm down..put down the spear, like I said we are unarmed, we can't hurt you
Said Yazni as she raised her hands a bit.
The girl stood still for a bit and then sighed, she put away her spear and tried calming down.
-Ok fine...I trust you....for now. But anything suspicious and both of you are going to die...got it?

Both of them smiled awkwardly and nodded nervously.
-Sorry for waking you up...you better go back to sleep, I'll guard.
-No no...you need to sleep too.
Zalán yawned as he said that.
Vaslena sighed, sat down a bit further away from them, then closed her eyes and tried sleeping...after that Yazni and Zalán did too.

Zalán opened his eyes, Yazni and Vaslena were not beside him, and he wondered where they might've gone. He stood up and saw something in front of him. He couldn't tell if it was a human or not all he could tell was that it was bright.
-Come with me.
The "figure" spoke, it echoed through these dreams walls. It started heading forwards. Zalán started following behind it.
They eventually got to a cave, it was beautiful inside.

There was a tree and a pond inside the cave, with a bunch of fireflies here and there.
Zalán went up close to the pond and looked into it, there were some fish in the water swimming around. After a bit, he glanced at his reflection in the water. Something was...off. Really off. Zalán's reflection had a scared look on its face, it was looking around scared and concerned, it yelled something but it wasn't heard. Out of nowhere, the reflection showed something grabbing Zalán by the torso and dragging him away fast. Zalán jumped at seeing this, he got startled by that...
