Tohru's POV

Three days ago at school Kyo asked me to the school dance. I still can't even tell if he wants to go or not if I'm being totally honest. Exams are coming up, and I can't pay attention in class. I'm so sleepy from studying last night, I can barely keep my eyes open.

*2 hours later*

"Tohru, wake up idiot."

I woke up to see Kyo's eyes inches away from mine. I jumped up.

"Oh, hi Kyo, what are you doing here?" I said fixing my hair and my uniform.

"I could ask you the same thing. Fall asleep in Physics again? Everyone already went home."

"Are you serious? What time is it? I'm gonna be late for work!"

"Dummy, if you had work I would've woken you up sooner. I heard you leaving your room all night, so I know you didn't sleep much."

He waited here just so I could get some sleep? Why would he even wait?

"So, if everyone else is gone, why are you still here?"

"Waiting for you. You never know if everyone else is actually gone. Knowing you, you'd be too spaced out, and anything could happen."

Kyo's been really protective over me lately. He comes to dinner early so Yuki doesn't take his spot again, he walks me to all my classes, he's even been helping me study a little bit because the math we're doing is difficult. It's nice having him around.

We walked home, and it was pretty quiet. He seemed to doze off a little bit because he was walking really far in front of me. I reached out to him on instinct and accidentally touched his hand and my face burned red. I pulled back instantly, but it looked like his hand just twitched a little.

Kyo's POV

I still can't figure out what to do during the day of the dance. Does she even want to spend that much time with me? For all I know she didn't want to go with me at all.

I felt a warmth on my hand, but as soon as I felt it, it was gone. I looked back to see Tohru holding her hand by her chest and blushing at the floor. It was definitely an accident.

"What are you trying to hold my hand or something?"

"What?!" Her hair practically stuck up on her head when I said that. I started laughing.

"Joking, Tohru."

"Right." She said, and took a few extra steps to catch up to me.

I thought she'd just brush it off, but we're at the front of the house now and her cheeks are still a little pink. Was she that embarrassed?

"We're home." I said as I opened the door.

I held it open, but Tohru just stood there, still staring at the floor. Is she not feeling well? Or did I say something weird?

"Tohru," I waved my hand in front of her face, "Earth to Tohru, we're home."

She perked up right away, nodded and sped inside. She went to her room right away, so I went up and got changed. Something weird is going on with her, but I feel like bringing it up is only gonna make things worse.
I went to go ask what the plans for dinner were, but I heard muffled crying. My heart feels like it's going to crack into pieces hearing that. I had to say something, but what? Yuki's face peered around the hall. As much as I hate him, I need his help. I waved him over and he had the same reaction I did.

"What did you do, stupid cat?" He whispers.

I didn't even think of that. Did I say something to make her cry? What's even worse is that if I did, I have no idea what it was. I haven't made her cry since the time I told her I would be there for her when she found a boy she liked. Dammit.
