We rested by a small pond, I was exhausted. I've never ran so much in human form since I was a child. Back then it seemed you could run forever without ever tiring. Things were less complicated too. I noticed a few men shifting and running towards the forest. Alpha Terence motioned for me to come to him.
"Yes, Alpha Terence?" This time I kept my head up and looked him in the eyes. "Just past those trees is the clearing. My men are circling to the other side were Jonathan and Marcus have found your aunt Rebecca. We are going to try and free her but it seems that we have encountered a slight problem."
Oh no! Was she hurt or worse? Dead? "What problem? Is she- is she ok?" I didn't, couldn't ask if she was still alive. How could I live with myself if something happened to my aunt and my baby cousin?
I looked into Alpha Terence's eyes, pleading with him to tell me the truth.
"Calm down she is fine as far as I know." He said. I let go of the breath I didn't realize I had been holding. "Then what is the problem?" I asked with so much authority in my voice that I surprised myself and Alpha Terence. I immediately bowed my head. "I'm sorry, Alpha I didn't mean to speak to you in that way."
I snapped my head up to look at Alpha Terence laughing. Not yelling or growling at my disrespectful tone but laughing. With tears in his eyes, "Well hello there. Didn't think you had that much fire in you. As for your question it seems Emilio has someone with him. This might complicate things."
He shook his head, "Lets go and get this over with." Looking towards the rest of the men with us he must have mind linked with them. They nodded their heads and shifted running in different directions into the forest ahead of us. Walking back to me he smiled and grabbed my hand. "No matter what happens, don't let me go. I don't care what he says. You stay with me. Ok?" I nodded my head.
