My body was stiff and my head was spinning. I felt like throwing up. I tried to open my eyes but all I saw was darkness. Panicking, I closed them again then opening them. Trying to adjust to the darkness. For a moment there I thought I was blind.I tried to sit up but arms wouldn't move to aid me. They were tied behind my back. My strength was weakening, everytime I struggled to break my bonds. Silver! It had to be silver. Marcus? Marcus? Please answer. I heard movement to my left, faint but it was there. I tried to look around to see if I could find a place to hide myself. Nothing.
The sound of footsteps grew closer, echoing all around me. I had to have been in a cave. Marcus baby if you can hear me I'm in a cave. Still nothing. Frustrated I decided to play possum. I closed my eyes and laid very still. "Sophie, Sophie, Sophie. Why did you have to show up with your problems? Everything was perfect."
I heard her moving closer before I felt her kick me in my stomach. Knocking the breath out of me. Tears streamed down my face. "He loved me! You see this cave," she turned in a circle, "we spent an entire weekend making love, right here in this very spot. He loved every inch of my body. He was going to make me his mate tonight. Did he tell you that? Hmmmm, of course not, he threw me away like I was nothing."
She kicked me again, then squatted down grabbing my hair. Pulling me up to face her."Everything was perfect. I was finally being recognized as someone important. The other pack members were respecting me. I wasn't trash anymore." She smacked me hard across my cheek.
My hands were getting numb from me trying to break free. I did the only thing I could think of, I stayed quiet, letting her get it all out. Marcus, I'm in a cave with Stacy. She says you know it. Please answer me. Stacy let me go and paced in front of me.
"You know I dreamnt of you. Yea I had a dream that Marcus was taken from me. At first I thought he was going to die. When I told him about my dream he promised me he would never leave me. He promised!" She stopped pacing and looked at me in disgust. I braced myself for another kick. I heard the crack, I felt the most excruciating pain near my chest. She had to have broken a rib.
Smirking at me, "Have you been trying to contact Marcus? Silver is such a useful metal. It weakens a wolf. It saps your strength and severs the link." She walks off laughing, returning with a bag. "You know your aunt Rebecca is dead. Emilio gave her a deadly dose of morphine. He actually wanted her to feel no pain. He is pathetic."
I could feel my heart breaking. My only link to my mother is gone. Tears start to flow freely down my cheeks. How could he do that she was only human? She wasn't a threat. I felt Stacy near me unzipping the bag. "This is Emilio's bag. It had all kinds of goodies. Like this liquid wolfsbane and rubber gloves. I watched as he smeared it all over her. Then all around her. I couldn't believe it when it didn't burn him or make him sick."
She took a jar out with green black looking stuff inside. I knew immediately what it was. My father had a similar jar in the basement. She set it down and grabbed the gloves out of the bag and put them on. My stomach dropped knowing what she was going to do. Marcus! Help me please! Marcus!
She opened the jar and put it under my nose. I tried to hold my breath. Tried moving my head to get away from it. My eyes were watering, my nose twitching from the fumes. Then my body caved and I inhaled breathing the foul concoction in. I coughed as my lungs burned, feeling like they were going to explode.
She removed the jar, relief flooded through me as I tried to breathe fresh air. My chest was on fire. My eyes and nose were running. Then I felt the searing pain on my arm. I screamed as I rapidly blinked my eyes trying desperately to see what she was doing. I knew though, I knew she put wolfsbane on me. Crying out more as I felt the burning on my arm. MARCUS! HELP!
My mind screamed for my mate. I heard running from the other side of the cave. Next thing I know Stacy is on the ground lifeless. The darkness was about to take over when I saw him standing over me.
"Mi tesoro, mi amorè. I came, I heard your cries."
