Once Gion was free from Sekizan's grasp, he asked, "By the way, why won't the Tree Trunk join the rugby team?"
"..s-sir?" he added when he saw that Sekizan was close to pulling his cheeks again.
"Oh, you mean, Iwashimizu, don't you?" Hachioji asked before looking slightly nervous. Everyone then waited for him to continue talking.
"The truth is.."
3RD PERSON POV
"Thanks for having me!" (yoroshiku onegaishimasu) Gion enthusiastically greeted the rugby team.
It was the next day and the first years are finally here. They all stood in a line in front of the current members to introduce themselves.
"Okay, then! Are all the first years here?" Hachioji asked as he held a clipboard with a paper containing the name list. "Oh! Iwashimizu." he exclaimed when he saw the tall blonde. "H-hello..."
Sekizan then stepped in front of the group. "I'm Sekizan Takuya, the team's captain. Nice to meet you." he introduced himself as he placed a hand on his hip.
"That guy's the captain?" Gion got into a fighting stance for some reason when he saw Sekizan.
"I'm the vice captain, Hachioji Mutsumi. We have a faculty advisor, but most of the time, it's just us." Hachioji introduced himself. "Now, let's introduce ourselves." he said as he gestured towards the other members.
He introduced only a handful before giving up due to the large number. "Well.. Since there are a lot of us, you can learn our names as we go along." he said, causing the team to groan, whine, and complain.
"You can't be serious!" someone exclaimed.
However, Sekizan just ignored them and continued. "First years, tell us your names. And your position if you've played before." he said.
"We'll start with you." Hachioji chose Gion to introduce himself first. "I'm Gion! Sir!"
"Yup. Gion Kenji-kun. No previous experience." Hachioji said he wrote it down on his clipboard.
Sekizan then instructed the other first years to introduce themselves. 2 of them were experienced players, and they were Iwashimizu Sumiaki, a Lock, and Oharano Etsugo, a Fly-half/Stand-off.
"Well then, should we split up the first years?" Umeno asked after the introductions. "I'm Hoakari Umeno, a second year. I'm the assistant team manager." she introduced herself.
" "Assistant"? " Gion questioned. "Who's the main team manager?"
"Me." a familiar voice said as she came out from behind the new members with an opened umbrella in one hand and a clipboard in the other. " I'm (L/n) (Y/n), third year, nice to meet you." she, for some reason, said it monotonously which slightly intimidated the first years.
"Oh! It's you!" Gion exclaimed when he saw the familiar face. "I thought you were just his girlfriend!" Gion said as he pointed to Sekizan.
Unfazed by the statement, (Y/n) replied, "I get that a lot, but I'm not." she clarified. "We're just very close."
"Anyways, beginners, come with me and Hachioji-senpai." Umeno instructed. "Follow me~." Hachioji said as he and Umeno went to one end of the field.
"Experienced players, follow us." (Y/n) instructed as she and Sekizan went to the other end. "Everybody else will be doing core training." Sekizan said.
"Get going!"

(Y/n) was preparing items needed for the practice when she suddenly heard Gion shouting. "Hey, I want to tackle someone!" he shouted.
She turned to them to see Hachioji trying to calm Gion down. "We're not practicing tackling yet." "Why not?" "Just because."
The manager just looked at them judgingly while Sekizan just walked away from her side to behind Gion before pulling his cheeks, hard. "Respect your seniors." he scolded.
(Y/n) just deadpanned.
Sekizan then let go of Gion, causing him to fall. "We want energetic players. But we don't want any that lack basic manners." he said before walking away.
"I want to do it.." Sekizan stopped in his tracks when he heard Gion mutter. "I want to tackle someone." Sekizan heard that and turned back to punish Gion again. "Ah! Just talking to myself! I was just talking to myself, sir!"
"...Fine." Sekizan said as he turned to face Gion. "If you're desperate to tackle someone, tackle me."
Gion began to wear his headgear and stood a distance away from Sekizan, "You can give me everything you've got!" he said before running straight towards the captain.
Sekizan ran towards Gion too, but with the ball, and tackled him away.
"Ouch!" Gion then got back up quickly. "Damn you!" he shouted before running towards Sekizan again, but was easily stopped when the latter's hand stopped him by the head.

"His name's Gion." (Y/n) corrected as she got closer. Sekizan removed his hand from Gion's head and took a step back.
"If you can complete the training drill I'm about to give you, I'll reward you with five chances a day to tackle me." Sekizan said.
" "training drill"? " Gion questioned. "The turtle."
(Y/n) raised an eyebrow at the instructions while Hachioji understood the captain's intentions. "Oh, I see."
"Mutsumi, show him." he said before walking away. "Oi, let's start practice."
He noticed that (Y/n) didn't move from her spot and continued staring at what Gion was about to do, so he hooked his fingers on her back collar and pulled her back to their side of the field.
