It's the day of your wedding dress appointment and you're excited and nervous as fuck.
Emma, Penelope, Aria, Elaine and your mom all gathered at you place for pre-wedding dress-drinks. You're all sitting on the balcony with your refreshments.
"What kind of dress do you want?" Emma asks.
"I'm not sure... I've never tried on a wedding dress so I have no idea what would suit me."
"The key is to try on as many gowns as possible. And a lot of different styles. That way you'll know what works for you and what doesn't," Elaine adds.
"I doubt there's anything that doesn't work for you. Literally everything looks good on you."
"Aww, Thanks, Penelope. The question is, will they have anything that fits the three of us?"
"I called Josephine and let her know about the bump. She ensured me that they know exactly how to handle this."
Aria puts a hand on your arm and smiles reassuringly. "You'll find the perfect dress and you're gonna look drop dead gorgeous. I know you will."
"Oh, honey, you'd look stunning in a rag."
"That's such a mom-thing to say." You all laugh. "I'm so freaking excited! I'm picking out my wedding dress today! How insane is that?!"
"Bonkers!" Penelope laughs.
Emma raises her glass. "But so exciting!"
Elaine checks her watch. "We should get going. Who's riding with me? And who's riding with Emma?"
"Mom and I are riding with you. And Aria and Penelope are riding with Emma."
It's a ten minute ride to the bridal boutique and the closer you get, the more you feel the butterflies in your stomach. Your palms are sweaty and your heart is racing.
"Oh my god I can't believe this is happening!"
"I'm so excited! This is every mother's dream!"
"I'm so glad my Elijah found you, my dear. You've been nothing but a blessing to all of us. You and those babies are the best thing that could ever happen to him."
Your chest feels to tight for your heart and the lump in your throat is suffocating. "Elaine, stop. You're gonna make my cry. And not just normal crying, I'm talking ugly crying. He's the best thing that ever happened to me. I still can't believe or understand how I got so lucky with him. I hit the jackpot with him."
Your mom gets emotional, too. "We can't all start ugly crying before we even saw you in a dress. We need to save some for later, when we see you in the dress you chose."
You chuckle and shake your head. "Oh man...this is gonna be one wild afternoon... This has been one wild half a year..."
"My goodness yes...wild but the best," your mom says with a smile.
"And the fact that Tom and Elijah seem to be reconnecting is just the icing on the cake. They've had such a difficult relationship...it's been really hard on all of us."
"Elijah is so happy about how they're getting along. The fact that Tom said he was proud of him...don't tell him I said so, but he cried. He was so relieved and happy to hear that. That his dad was proud of him and the man he is today."
Elaine gets quiet for second. You can tell she didn't expect to hear that and it clearly hit a sensitive nerve.
"I've never seen him cry. Not since he was eleven. Not since Matt and Emma moved in with us. He just stopped crying and showing his sadness. He took it on him to be the strong one and never stopped doing that."
