Chapter 57

You just heard a gunshot being fired at Blaze. Elijah, Nate and Matt are at the front and you don't know if anyone got shot.

There's panic, chaos and screaming everywhere.

"Please don't go out there, dad. Stay here, with mom and me. You can't go, dad!"

Cole looks up with his phone against his ear. "I'm calling the cops as we speak."

"Listen, I won' t get in any trouble. I'm gonna see if anyone got hurt and that's it. Okay? I won't be far and I won't be long. I promise."

"Dad!" You watch your dad make his way between all the people and tries to get to the front, he's staying low. You start crying desperately. I can't lose them. I can't. Please don't make me lose them.

You and your mom hold each other tight while you cry together.

"The police are on their way."

Suddenly you hear a fresh round of screams coming from where they're at. You have no idea what's happening, who was screaming and why, but all you can think of is everyone you love being out there. You have no idea if they're hurt or even alive.

"What's happening?! can you see anything, Tom? Is Nate okay?" Aria rarely panics but this time everyone is losing their mind.

You can hear Nate shouting loud. "Matt behind you!"

Another shot is being fired and a third wave of panic surges.

Emma tries to climb over Cole and screams the life out of her. "Maaatttt! Nooo!"

"Oh mu god, Matt!" Penelope screams.

Every single one of you has someone they love more than life itself out there and it shows.

Cole grabs both Emma and Penelope.

Emma claws at Cole's arms to get him off of her. "No, Cole, please! That's my brother out there! He's all the family I have left!"

"Emma stay here! I'm not letting you out there. I can't have you hurt, Emma."

"Tom, do something! Those are our boys!"

"Oh god no! Please god no!" You're back to hysterically screaming and crying. Your heartbeat is throbbing in your ears and you can barely breathe.

The sound of sirens in the distance awakens a new rush of adrenaline. You can hear cops storming in and shouting. You hear them yelling to get down on their knees and to drop their weapons.

Tom lets you know all four guys are in the hands of the police.

I have to go there. I have to! You jump up and duck out of reach of Tom and your mom. You run into the crowd and hear your mom, Aria and Penelope screaming your name.

"Hailee! Hailee come back! Hailee, no!"

You reach the front and see Elijah. He's kneeled down on the floor. There's blood everywhere, on him, on the ground. There's a security guard down on the floor, he's bleeding, too.

"Elijah!" You drop down on the floor beside him and grab him. "You're hurt! You got shot! You got shot! Oh my god you got shot!"

"Hailee, what the fuck are you doing here?! I told you to stay at the table!"

"I heard the gunshots and I didn't know if you were alive or not! I thought you were dead! I thought you were dead, Elijah!"

"I'm okay. It's just my shoulder."

You start sobbing uncontrollably. "I thought you were dead! I thought I lost you!"

"I'm okay, baby. I'm okay. Are you? Are you okay? Is everyone okay?"
