The car ride back is a silent one.

Matt is driving and you sit in the back with Elijah.

Matt opens the door to your chalet for you and you and Elijah enter after him, followed by Penelope, Aria and Nate.

"I'll take you upstairs, baby."

You follow his lead and climb the stairs to your bedroom, it feels like you're climbing a mountain. Once inside, you sit on your bed and he takes off your clothes and the scrubs. He goes into your closet and comes back with clean underwear and one of his t-shirts. God you love him. He helps you put them on and you get into bed.

He closes the curtains, takes off his bloodstained pants and hoodie and crawls into bed behind you. His legs folded around yours and his warm chest pressed firmly against your back. His arm wrapped around your body and holding your hand against your chest. You become one person.

He whispers: "Go to sleep, baby, I'm right here."

And with that, you fall into a deep sleep.

Not being able to fall asleep himself, Elijah carefully gets up. Making sure he doesn't wake you. He tucks you in, puts on his sweats and quietly goes downstairs, where the rest is sitting quietly on the couch. You could hear a pin drop.

They see Elijah coming down the stairs and all sit up straight.

"Is she sleeping?" Penelope asks with worry all over her face.

"Yeah."

He hasn't shed a tear all day. He couldn't, not when you could see him.

Matt comes over and takes Elijah into a strong hug.

And just like that, Elijah fell apart for the first time since he was a kid.

He starts crying into his brother's arms.

"We lost our baby."

He sobs and holds Matt tight. Tears run down Matt's cheeks as well. Watching his brother fall apart is just as painful as falling apart himself.

Aria and Penelope start shedding fresh tears as Nate holds them both in his arms.

You'd think your body would eventually run out of tears. It doesn't.

"We didn't even know there was a baby. If I had known, I could've taken better care of her. But I didn't. And now it's gone." He grabs Matt's shirt in his fists while Matt just holds on to him. "There was a baby, Matt. We were gonna have a baby."

Endless tears are streaming down Penelope and Aria's faces while Nate is trying his best to comfort the both of them.

"This isn't your fault, brother. There's nothing you could've done to prevent this. Nothing. Don't beat yourself up over this. There's nothing you could've done."

"I didn't even know I wanted a baby so bad until we lost this one."

They let go of each other and sit down on the couch.

"You should've seen her. She was so scared. So hurt." His head hangs low, resting in both his hands. "I can't believe we lost our baby. Half hers, half mine. She has to stay home for two weeks. How do we even tell her dad?"

Aria puts her hand on Elijah's. "Talk to her. If she wants to tell her parents, do it. If not, we can come up with something. We'll just tell him she's sick."

"How do you go through this? How do you deal with this? How do you ever get passed this?"

"You do what feels right for the both of you. If you wanna talk, talk. If you wanna cry, cry. If you wanna scream, scream. Just do it together, I guess. I'm so sorry, dude." Nate tries to stay strong but his heart breaks for his brother, his best friend.
