Chasing Darkness (Sequel to Remember Me)

Part Six

"I called the airport like you asked, Cloak. There hasn't been any flights to the city that Kurapika's in. Apparently, there's only airships that go there once or twice every few weeks," Izunavi explains to you, shoving his phone back into his pocket. 

Leorio lets out a sigh of relief, "Then he won't beat us there. Isn't that good, (Y/N)?"

You nod, a ghost of a smile on your face, "Very. I was counting on the fact that he wouldn't be able to get on an airship. From what I've heard, that city is very dangerous, so they avoid flying out there often. But I wanted to double-check, so thank you, Izunavi."

Jaya looks down at her watch, and then back up at you, her expression stern, "We should leave now, before we are not able to catch up to him."

"I agree. You all can head out to the car. I just want to talk to Zoe and Lynn alone before we go," You motion to the door as you say this.

"Okay! We'll move the cars to the front of the building, so you can meet us there!" Leorio exclaims, giving you a hopeful look, "We're gonna catch this guy, no problem!"

"Without a doubt!" Bennett is quick to agree with him, "We'll meet you outside, (Y/N)! See you soon, Zoe and Lynn! Be safe!" He calls to them as he walks towards the door.

Izunavi follows Leorio to the door, grabbing Jaya's arm, and pulling her with him. Once they've all left your apartment, closing the door behind them, your gaze falls back on Lynn and Zoe. 

"If somebody does attack, I want you two to lead them away from the apartment, if possible," You explain to them, Zoe and Lynn nodding along with what you say, simultaneously, "The Kurta eyes are locked up tight behind the bookshelf, but if they were able to destroy the reinforced wall, they would have no problem stealing them."

"We'll take care of anyone who tries to steal Kurapika's brethren!" Zoe says with an unusually serious look on her face, "I'm not that strong, but I'll do anything that I can."

Lynn nods in agreement, adding on, "I'm not the strongest either, but I'm sure I could outsmart anyone who tries anything. And my aim is pretty good." 

"Perfect," You place a hand on each of their shoulder's, "Thank you, both. This is extremely important to me, so I'm counting on you!"

"That adds on some pressure," Lynn points out, crossing her arms.

You offer her a smirk in return, "That's the point." A car horn can be heard from outside, prompting you to cut your goodbye's short. "I have to go, but please be safe, and call me with any concerns!" You give each of them a short hug before you head towards the door, "I love you both!" You call out as you're closing the door behind you.

"Love you!" Zoe calls back, while Lynn mumbles her, "Love you.." 

After you've left your apartment, Zoe and Lynn turn to face each other. "So, now what?" Lynn wonders, falling backwards onto the couch, "We just wait to see if we're attacked?"

Zoe nods with a small shrug, "I guess so. Hopefully, nobody attacks at all.."

"I suppose you're right about that," Lynn agrees with her, leaning back onto the couch cushion, "I hope they're able to stop this Shadow guy. His nen abilities sound like a pain."

"Of course, they'll be able to stop him!" Zoe is quick to get defensive over this, "(Y/N) is the strongest person we know!"

"Maybe.."

"She beat you, didn't she?" Zoe asks with a playful smirk present on her face.

Lynn rolls her eyes, looking away from her sister, "You don't need to bring that up, but I guess you're right. I just hope she'll be careful."
