It had been a couple days since the case with the little girl. You had taken a couple of days off, Hotch urged you to, so you said why not. You could work, you knew that, but your mind was still flashing with images of the little girl laying in a pool of her own blood.
The team had texted, called you, but you only sent one word answers in response. You didn't answer any calls. You didn't want to talk, not right now. You just needed a couple of days to sort yourself out, come to terms with what you had seen.
You scrolled through the messages the team had sent.
Hey, pretty baby, I'm sending you a gift basket! Preferences?? -PG
No. -You
Garcia and her gift baskets? You'd be drowning in them for days.

Wanna go for a run? -DMNo. -You
You had started working out with Derek after a few months of being on the team. It was rather fun, both of you super competitive, spurring the other on.

Take as much time off as you need. You'll have to finish your report when you get back. -AHOk. -You
He was always professional and you actually embraced his professionalism at this moment. He wasn't pressing, keeping it absolutely professional. He was like your dad honestly.

I set a book outside your door. I know it's one of your favorites. Let me know how it is. -SRThanks, Spen. -You
Spencer was so caring, he was the brother you had always wanted. You loved him so much. And the book he sent was your favorite and you read it two times over.

Preference in wine? -DRNo.-You
Rossi's text was random, out of nowhere, but just a text from him made you feel better. God, you were falling for a man twice your age that didn't even reciprocate your feelings.
A half hour after you got Rossi'a message, there was a knock on your apartment door. You furrowed your eyebrows and did a quick check in the mirror, wanting to laugh at your appearance.
You grabbed your gun, holding it to your side. You hunted serial killers for a living, you weren't going to just open the door without any sort of weapon.
You unlocked the door carefully and you were shocked to see David Rossi standing there with a bottle of wine and a warm smile.
He eyed your gun, quirking an eyebrow, "Expecting someone?"
You glanced down at your gun and blushed, "Uh-.. Sorry." You sat the gun down on a small table by the door.
He shrugged, "Can't be too cautious. We do see some brutal killings almost everyday of the week."
You smiled at him and then realized he was still standing outside of your apartment. You opened the door wider, "Come in," he slid through the opening and you shut the door, locking it.
He walked into the kitchen, smirking at the amount of gift baskets Garcia had sent. You smiled as you saw them too, scratching the back of your head, "She went a little overboard..."
"A little?" He smirked, setting the wine down on the counter.
You shrugged, "That's just Penelope for ya. I told her to stop sending them, but she sent two more after. Pre-ordered apparently."
