Hotch had you working on reading over the files to find any connections between the victims. As time went on, you got more and more tired. You resorted to straight black coffee instead of tea.
The team was bustling around. They filtered in and out of the conference room you were in. Derek would slide you another coffee whenever he was around. JJ had asked if you needed anything and Rossi had checked up on you every time he was at the station.
You were trying your best to focus, but you were exhausted from days of not sleeping. Last night, you had barely gotten any sleep. You couldn't find any connections as hard as you tried and as hours went by, it only made you feel exhausted.
Derek breezed by you, "Checkin' a sight out." you gave a nod, not really understanding much of what he had said. As the minutes ticked by, your eyelids drooped and then you were out like a light.
—
"Y/n, wake up, y/n." you groaned as someone roused you from your slumber.
"Y/n." someone shook you. You sighed and opened your eyes, wiping at them tiredly.
"Y/n." You glanced up and realized you were still in the police station. Oh shit. You fell asleep. Oh- shit. Derek stood in front of you smirking, his arms crossed over his chest. Your eyes widened, "I fell asleep."
He chuckled, "Yeah. Hotch is pissed." Your eyes darted to the conference room's window, where Hotch stood with the police chief, JJ and Spencer.
You bolted out of your chair, "I didn't mean to, I-"
Derek shook his head, "You'll be fine. He might give you a harsh talking to, but we've all done it before."
Derek's words only calmed you down a little. You inhaled deeply, rubbing at your head. "I couldn't find any connections-"
"We already got him."
"What?! Why didn't-"
Derek shook his head again, "Lil Mama, you were passed out. Hotch was pissed off already, so no one woke you."
"Why didn't Ross-"
"He wanted you to sleep. You must've been tired if you fell asleep on the case..." you looked at him and huffed in exasperation. He had a knowing smirk on his face.
"We didn't do that last night, I-"
"You're wearing his shirt. You're telling me nothing happened? Make-up sex, maybe, or-"
"Derek!" You groaned, smacking him upside the head.
He chuckled, "Okay, okay. Sorry."
"Mhm." You looked where Hotch was and saw him give you a stern look. Shit. "Where's Rossi?"
"Interrogating the unsub with Emily to get a confession. Should be easy. He was already blabbing when we grabbed him." Derek explained, stepping beside you.
You sighed, "I can't believe I missed it. Hotch is gonna murder me."
Derek patted your back as Hotch made his way to the conference room with JJ and Spencer. "You'll be fiiiine, he has a soft spot for ya." You rolled your eyes at his comment. Spencer opened the door and gave you a 'yikes' look that told you everything you needed to know about the situation. JJ gave you a kind smile to try and reassure you.
Hotch looked up from his phone, "L/N, can I speak with you?" It was definitely not a question, but an order. A very, very serious order.
"Uh, yeah," you followed the dark-haired man to an empty office for privacy. He opened the door for you and you entered slowly. He shut it and looked you over. You could tell he was angry, but was withholding from yelling.
