"Wheels up in thirty." Hotch ordered as he grabbed up his case files and left the conference room. Derek leaned back in his chair, stretching his arms. JJ and Emily stood up, taking their leave to get ready for the jet ride. Spencer was still going through the case file, using his mind to its fullest extent. Garcia was already after Hotch, speaking to him in his office about the case.
You looked up from the case file, rubbing your eyes and letting out a sigh.
Rossi sat beside you and he glanced over at you curiously, taking in your tired appearance. It had been case after case since you two had spent any time together.
You set your head back against the chair, shutting your eyes. You hadn't slept good the night before. You had had a nightmare after weeks of pushing them down and away. You guessed it had to do with not being able to spend time with Rossi- who seemed to ease your mind.
Rossi rose and pulled you up by your arm. Your eyes fluttered open and you let him pull you up. "Dave, what-"
"Come on." he urged you out of the conference and into his office. He shut the door and crossed his arms over his chest. You stood in the middle of room, rubbing your eyes again. He was watching you with an expressionless face.
You sighed, "What? We have to get on the jet soon-"
"Did you get any sleep last night?" He asked bluntly, raising an eyebrow at you.
You were too tired to deal with this. "I'm fine. My sleeping habits are none of your concern."
Rossi's eyebrows rose and then his face hardened, "Yes, they are. You're walking around like a zombie and you almost fell asleep during the case briefing. Y/n, you can't-"
"Can't what?" You growled, fed up with the whole conversation. You didn't have time to discuss why you hadn't been sleeping for the past few days.
Rossi took a step forward, "Can't do this to yourself. It's dangerous and-"
"Screw off, Dave. You have no idea. If it was a problem for the job, I would let Hotch know. But it's not. So leave me alone." You snapped, clenching your jaw.
Rossi was getting just as frustrated. He wanted you to open up and tell him what was wrong. You were doing fine before. "I'm not going to leave you alone. I'm worried about you, y/n. Are you having nightmares ag-"
"Dave!" You growled, warning him not to go on. Well, he was David Rossi and David Rossi never listened.
"Are you having nightmares again? If you are we can figure it out, I just need to know so I can-"
"What?! So you can 'help' me?! Wake up, Dave, I'm not some bitch you can fix!" You shouted. His face grew angry, he didn't want you calling yourself a bitch like you were worthless. To him, you weren't.
"I never said I wanted to fix you! I want to help you! Why can't you just let me help?! Are you afraid you're going to scare me away? What is it?! I'm right here, y/n! Tell me why you won't just let people help you?! Did your father really make you believe you're worthless?! Did he really make you feel damaged beyond repair?!" As soon as the words had tumbled out of his mouth, he realized he had crossed a line.
Your once angry face went blank, a raw emotion coming through and then you pushed past him. He whipped around, "Y/n, wait-" but you were already gone, his office door slamming shut behind you. He stood there, all anger gone from him and replaced with fear. He had brought up your insecurities and fears. Fears your father controlled your life. Had 'damaged' you, made you 'worthless.'
The door opened and Rossi hoped it was you, but when he looked up, he saw Hotch step into the office with a raised eyebrow.
"We're leaving." Hotch informed, taking in Rossi's stature and knowing something was wrong. If that wasn't enough to go by, he had heard Rossi and you yelling from his office. Thin walls.
