You woke up in the middle of the night, the digital clock beside your bed reading: 3:31 am. A nightmare had ran course in your mind, all your fears clashed together.
You let out a deep sigh, knowing you wouldn't be able to go back to sleep now. Taking a deep breath, you climbed out of bed, stepping into the bathroom to do your business before going back into the bedroom.
An idea popped into your head when you saw the window. Walking up to it, you pulled the curtains back, seeing it was a sliding door and you could sit on the deck if you wanted to.
Unlocking the door, you slipped out of the warm room and into the chilly night air. The moon was still out, the ground illuminated by it.
Doing something you shouldn't, you hopped up on the ledge of the banister, sitting on it, your feet dangling over the edge. The night air whirled around you, fresh air hitting your face.
You looked up at the sky, gazing up at the stars. It was beautiful out. It was late or early or whatever one wanted to say, but it was quiet, peaceful, the birds and squirrels asleep.
"You're going to fall." Your head whipped to the sound of the deep voice. Rossi stood in the doorway, leaning against the frame. You hadn't even realized his room connected to the deck or else you wouldn't of went outside.
Taking a deep breath, you looked away, "You scared the shit out of me."
You heard footsteps as he came closer, "I thought someone was trying to break into my house." He revealed, leaning over the banister you were sitting on.
"Sorry..." you apologized and then looked up at the stars, "It's beautiful out though..."
Rossi followed your eyes, "Yeah, it is." He shifted closer to you, "Why are you up?"
You glanced at him, the moonlight shining on his face, making him look better than ever before. Swallowing thickly, you looked back up at the stars, "Couldn't sleep."
"Nightmare." It was a statement, not a question. You gave a small nod in response. He would know if you lied and both of you knew you were prone to nightmares of your father.
"You should get some sleep, y/n." Rossi urged, looking from the stars to you. You were breathtaking, the moonlight illuminating your features.
"I'm okay. Can't sleep now." You all but whispered under your breath. Rossi was right next to you now, his shoulder brushing your side. It sent little sparks through you, but you knew it was wrong to think of him in that way.
You looked out at the yard, "It's peaceful. Quiet. Sometimes the world gets too loud, Dave." Rossi quirked a brow at the usage of his first name.
You glanced to him, "I like the quiet. No birds chirping. No people bustling around. It's peaceful, just you and the moon, the stars."
Rossi looked up at you, taken aback by your small smile as you looked at the sky. He had to hold himself back from pulling you down and kissing you. You were breathtaking at times and it took all he had to control himself.
You shivered as the cold started to get to you. Rossi noticed, "It's cold, come on, let's go inside." Let's. Your ears caught on to let's.
You turned to him an eyebrow quirked up. He sighed, "Will you sleep if you go back to your room?" No.
From the look on your face he smiled softly, "Come on," he took your arm, helping you off the side of the deck before you fell.
You jumped down in front of him, his hands on your arms to steady you. You stood there looking up into his eyes as he looked into yours. When people said sparks flew in books, you never believed it until now, it was like the world was righted. His dark brown eyes were locked with yours, the intensity of the look comforting.
