You went back today and you were happy. The few days off had cleared your mind. But you knew if Rossi hadn't shown up, you would've still been loathing yourself. But he comforted you, stilled your soul.
You thought about what he had done. Bringing you wine, checking up on you, talking with you. He had laughed with you, talked with you, touched you. You wished everyday could be like that. Wished he would brush your hand or touch your elbow again. Anything, really. It was stupid and you should feel ashamed of thinking of your colleague like that, but you couldn't stop thinking about him.
Unknown to you, Rossi was thinking the same. The day he had went to your apartment was the day he realized just how much he cared for you. He shouldn't right? You were have half his age, too young right? Then why couldn't he get you out of his head? He had never felt this way towards a younger woman before, well, yes, he had looked at younger women before; but he had never seen himself with them. But you. God, you were always on his mind. And today you were coming back.
When you walked into the bullpen, a messenger bag across your chest, just like Spencer's, you saw your your friends, your family.
Derek saw you first. He jumped up and smiled, "Y/n! How's it goin Lil Mama?!" You giggled and he wrapped you in one of his bear hugs.
You pulled away and swatted at his head, "Miss me?"
"You betcha. It's been boring around here without you, and pretty boy's rants are even worse when you're gone."
"Hey!" Spencer exclaimed as he approached, sending you a smile.
Derek shrugged, "Y/n is the only one who actually listens."
Spencer smiled at you, "That's why she's my best friend." You hugged him at his words. God, you missed him.
"What about me?" JJ asked in fake jealousy as she approached with Emily by her side. Spencer shrugged and you laughed.
You gave Emily and JJ both small hugs, "I missed you guys."
"We missed you too, sweetie." JJ replied kindly.
Emily shrugged, "Eh, we could do without you." You faked shock and she pulled you into another hug, "Just kidding, girlie. We are SO going out tonight and celebrating!" Before you could agree a loud shriek caught your attention.
"Y/N!!!!!" Penelope. Within seconds, you were wrapped in the tightest hug ever. Definitely Penelope. She kissed your cheek several times, "YOU'RE BACK!!!"
"That I am." You replied with a broad smile.
"DID YOU GET ALL OF MY BASKETS?! I PRE-ORDERED THEM FROM-"
"Yes, I got them. Thanks, Penelope," you gave her another hug to quiet her. She accepted it with a wide smile of her own.
Someone cleared their throat and you turned around to see Hotch standing there, an amused Rossi behind him.
You smiled at him, "Hey, Hotch. Miss me?" He gave you one of his stoic looks, before his face broke out into a small smile.
"Yes." He answered formally. You rolled your eyes at his professionalism. God, such a weirdo. You cracked up in your head.
Before he could say anything else that was probably emotionless, you hugged him too. He was stunned at first and then he hugged you back.
You pulled away and he seemed brighter in a way. As bright as Hotch could look. His eyes seemed to glitter.
"Great to have you back, y/n." He murmured, a small smile on his lips. "You still have a report to finish." Oh, there's the comment you knew he would say.
