"Merlin's Mushrooms this tower is cold," you thought, shivering as you climbed the stone steps. It was one of the coldest days Enchancia had ever seen, and as a result there was very little work to be done today. You had gotten off work early and decided to pay a visit to your dear friend to see how he was holding up. King Rolland had already asked him to enchant multiple rooms to keep the castle from being freezing, and you know how hard it was for him to cast so many spells in a row. Reaching the large wooden door, you raised her hand and knocked sharply. "Cedric? Its me. I'm coming in now."
The first thing you noticed when you opened the door was the rush of freezing cold air hitting your face. It was even colder in here then in the staircase, which was unusual. rubbing your arms for warmth, you look over to see Cedric, passed out face down on his desk. Casting so many spells had clearly knocked him out cold. you glanced at the fireplace, only to see that even the embers had burned out. "No wonder this place is freezing," you thought. "He must have forgotten to light it this morning, or he was just too tired to light it after." you groan. "Now I'd have to start a brand-new fire..." you make your way over to the sleeping sorcerer and lightly place your hand on his forehead, only to yank it away in surprise. "Its like ice!" you realize, startled. Slightly panicked, you lightly shake Cedric's shoulder. "Hey buddy, you still alive?"
To your relief, he stirs slightly. "Cold.." he murmurs, clearly still mostly asleep.
"Yeah no kidding," you respond. "It's freezing in here. Come on, lets get you somewhere warmer." you shake him again, this time getting him to raise his head. Gently, you lead a still half asleep sorcerer out of the tower, and through the castle. It was a mess. Cedric may look skinny, but somehow that man had more muscles then he let on, and he was HEAVY. Trying to support him while going down the stairs was a nightmare. Nevertheless, you managed to get the stumbling sorcerer safely to your room without incident and led him gently over to the sofa. Thankfully, the fire you had lit this morning was still going strong. you threw and another log on, and then looked back to the almost drunk looking sorcerer sitting dazed on your sofa. you walked back over and put your hand against his forehead, and it was still very cold. This poor man was about to catch a cold if you do not warm him up soon. Walking over to your bed, you pull off the biggest blanket you have. "This ought to do the trick." you wrap it around the sleepy sorcerer, before snuggling in beside him. Cedric had apparently fallen back asleep, his head falling softly on your lap. Smiling, you reach down and play with his soft black hair, running it through your fingers. Suddenly, Cedric's hand reaches up and pulls your hand to his cheek, snuggling into it before letting out a small contented sigh.
"THAT WAS SO CUTE?!" you screamed internally, your cheeks flushing in embarrassment. You could feel his shallow breathes dance along your fingertips, and his fingers wrapped tightly around yours, as if he never planned to let go. "I think... I finally know what people mean when they say they want a moment to last forever..."
Of course nothing ever does. About an hour of bliss later, you felt the sorcerer start to stir. you tenderly untangle your fingers from his, just as Cedric's eyes blinked open.
"Evening sleepyhead," you teased lightly. Cedric's eyes widened as he started to clue in to what was happening, and shot up.
"W-what happened," he stammered, his face burning. "I co-could have sworn I was up at my des-" Cedric jumped as you place your hand on his forehead, his mouth slamming shut as he ducked away. He was completely flustered, how adorable.
"I went up to your tower and you were passed out at your desk. Your fire went out and it was absolutely freezing," You explain. "I brought you down here so you didn't catch cold. I'm not surprised you don't remember you were pretty out of it."
"I S-ssee. Thank you," Cedric mumbled, avoiding any eye contact. "But you shouldn't have bo-bothered with m-me. I would have b-been f-fine." You frown at this.
"You know I couldn't do that," you cooed. "Now are you going to come back for a cuddle or what? You took the blanket with you ya know." You stretch you arms out, inviting him back in. Cedric somehow managed to flush even redder, but he crawled back into your arms, snuggling into your stomach. He was never that good at initiating contact, but this poor touch starved man would take it any chance you gave him. He would always been incredibly flustered by it, but that never ended up stopping him. His arms wrapped and tightened around your waist, almost as if he was scared you would suddenly tell him to leave. Readjusting the blanket so it was around you both, the two of you nestled up together, watching the fire and listening to the wind blow fiercely outside.
"You know," Cedric mumbled, "I hate snowy days. Rolland always treats me like a living furnace and I end up too exhausted to do anything. but.." Cedric fidgeted slightly. "If they are with you, suppose I don't I mind them."
Grinning at his roundabout compliment, You lean down and plant a soft kiss on his forehead.
"Me too."
A/N
Can you tell I am massively procrastinating midterms lol. I just want to be snuggled by my boi not writing papers T-T. Still, here is a bit of fluff to hopefully heal your hearts after that monstrosity of a chapter the other day. I am not sorry. But if enough of you want it I can write a sugar sweet cheesy ending to Treat you better. It just did not feel like there was a way for me to end it with the two together without like ignoring the betrayal and mental damage that the toxic relationship would have had on both (Y/N) and Cedric. You cant just run into the arms of someone who has ignored your for in favour of a stranger. And if Cedric went for (Y/N) immediately after being betrayed doesn't that make her just a rebound? So I chose to have her run away and try to find a new story. I understand I am overthinking it but like I couldn't just ignore it lol. That was a long note, I am sorry I just didn't want you guys thinking I was being cruel just for the sake of being cruel, Ya'll have a good day.
