"Ceddy?" you call softly, knocking on the huge wooden door in front of you. Your friend had come to stay with your family over the weekend, and the two of you had a lot of fun playing together that day. You were sure that you would both sleep soundly that night, but it looked like mother nature had other plans. Torrents of rain slashed down onto the rooftop of your parents tower, pounding against the large glass windows. You flinch as lightning flashed, lighting up the entire hallway for a split second, and was immediately followed by the sharp crack of thunder. Normally a little storm wouldn't have phased you, but tonight was different. You knock a little louder on the door in front of you "Ceddy I'm coming in."
Softly opening the door, you pad into the guest room where your friend was supposed to be sleeping. The dim light of your candle flickered softly, revealing a shaking pile of blankets that you assumed contained your dear friend. Setting down your light on the side table, you crawl onto the high bed and gentle prod the shaking mass. "Ceddy? are you ok?"
Your question was met with a small whimper. You were just about to lift the edge of the blanket, when lightning lit up the whole room in a bright flash. Cedric cried out, and flung himself out of the blanket, into your arms. He shook violently, and you wrapped your arms tightly around him. "its ok," you murmur. To be honest, the intensity of the storm was starting to frighten you too. Reaching out, you grab the recently-abandoned blanket, and struggle to wrap it around the two of you. You had just managed to get the two of you into somewhat of a cocoon, when the loudest crack of thunder boomed outside. Both of you yelped in fear, and you abandoned the plan to make a nice nest and just threw the blanket over your head. It gently weighed down on your head, slightly stifling the noise of the storm that raged outside.
"I don't like the lightning," You heard Cedric whisper, tightening his grip on your waist.
"I don't like the thunder," You reply, "Its so loud tonight. It sounds like its in my head." You felt Cedric shift, sitting himself up higher and letting go of your waist. Instead, you felt his hand graze against yours, and you grip it tightly. The two of you sit in silence after that, hands locked together as you listen to the rain pound against the glass. You felt safer, being wrapped in the blanket with your best friend at your side. The thunder didn't seem as loud. Cedric seemed calmer too, with the blanket blocking most of the light from the flashes. The storm, mighty as it was, eventually moved one, and the two of you fell asleep, hands still clasped tightly together.
A/N
I have a head-cannon that Cedric is afraid of bright flashes because it reminds him of the flash of light that accompanied the spell that ruined his life. So I made him afraid of lightning. Sorry that this was short, I started it but like halfway through got bored and couldn't remember where I was going. I also didn't proofread so sorry about that. Have a good one.
Peace!
