"Jungwoo, can you walk Obok?" Hayoung groaned in her drowsy voice, referring to the dog that was barking. "Jungwoo?"
Hayoung shot up from her bed to see that her husband wasn't there, there other side of the bed empty. "Where did you go?"
Hayoung sighed, grabbing a hoodie and throwing it over her pyjamas before walking out of the bedroom.
That's weird, Hayoung thought as Obok followed her, his feet pattering on the tiles. He's pretty quiet for someone that hasn't had his morning walk yet.
Hayoung had grabbed the leash resting beside the door but then realized it wasn't where she had placed it last night. Did Jungwoo walk him?
Suddenly, Obok began barking and running to the kitchen.
"Obok, where are you going?" Hayoung whined as she followed her dog. That's when she caught sight of Jungwoo in the kitchen.
Her husband hair was messy and he looked half asleep, still wearing his pyjamas with an apron thrown over. His eyebrows were furrowed as he stared at his phone, resting on the table beside a bowl full of something that looked like pancake batter.
"Obok, be quiet, you're going to wake her up!" Jungwoo hissed as the dog whimpering by his side.
"Wake who up?" Hayoung asked, making Jungwoo jump.
"Yah, did you wake her up!" Jungwoo scolded Obok before turning to Hayoung. "I was going to surprise you with breakfast."
"Don't blame our child, I was going to wake up anyways." Hayoung said, lifting Obok in her arms rubbing her face into his fur. "Plus, I think you can use my help."
"I mean, I'm not against that idea." Jungwoo confessed as Hayoung put the dog down, moving to the sink to wash her hands. "Why is making pancakes so hard?"
"It's not." Hayoung said, drying her hands before peeking over at the batter. "It looks the way it's supposed to, have some confidence."
Jungwoo's bottom lip jutted outwards cutely and Hayoung couldn't help but smile before placing a kiss on his cheek. "Come on, let's get the pan on and start cooking them."
...
"Wow, these are really good." Jungwoo said, nodding with satisfaction as the couple enjoyed their breakfast.
"Yeah, they are. Good job." Hayoung said smiling back.
The two continued eating and chatting, enjoying their lazy weekend morning without work.
"When are we picking up Doyoung and Riko again?" Jungwoo asked.
"They're landing this afternoon. And don't forget Rina!" Hayoung said, reminding Jungwoo of her niece.
The family was visiting Neo City for the first time since Rina was born, and Hayoung was excited to meet the child who was already growing up fast. She had seen the girl over video calls but this is the first time that she'll be seeing the girl in real life.
"Right." Jungwoo said, less enthusiasm coming from his voice.
...
"They're here!" Hayoung exclaimed, waving to the family exiting the terminal, her hand laced with Jungwoo.
