Chapter 21

Ayden's POV:

"Because I know you promised her you wouldn't do anything,"

Cam says with pure seriousness. I can tell he's not joking about that.

How does he even know that I promised her I wouldn't do anything to that shithead.

She probably made him promise not to do anything, either.

"I can see the confusion written all over your face Ayd. The only reason I know that you promised her is that she made me swear to her too."

"Well, what are we supposed to do then?" I ask Cameron waiting for a response to this dilemma. I need an answer to this problem. I promised her, but I know this asshole needs to be put in his place.

Maybe I should stop being so agro, listen to her, and respect her wishes.

"We're supposed to do nothing, dude. She doesn't want us to meddle, and if she wanted us to, she would have said it was okay to beat the shit out of him."

"What about the police?" I ask hesitantly, not wanting to overstep even though I'm not saying it to Analie directly. She and Cameron are best friends; he has a right to be mad at me if I overstep

"What about the police, dude?"

"Is she going to go to the police about this? Jake cannot be walking around with no consequences," I say, getting heated once again.

"She said no," He says quietly like he didn't want me to hear his response.

"WHAT?"

"She said no, dude."

"What do you mean she said no?!" I practically yell for the whole neighborhood to hear me.

"She said no. What else do you want me to say." He sighs, exasperated. I'm guessing with the whole situation, "I tried to convince her, but she said it would just make her relive everything over again, and frankly, I understand that. It would hurt her even more, man; I think we need to leave this alone, Ayden."

"You're right. I don't want her to be more in pain than she already is. I just hope that one day she is ready to turn that asshole in"

"Don't worry about me, Ayden" Cam and I both turn around to see Analie coming down the stairs. She gives us a sad smile; I can tell today's events have exhausted her and made her feel like she's reliving everything. She comes to sit next to me and speaks up again, "I just need some time before I decide to go to the cops. I can promise both of you that I will not wait forever."

"Okay, sweetheart, I understand. It is your choice, after all, and we both respect it."

"Absolutely, Lee. We understand and are here for you, whatever you need."

"Thanks, guys. I really appreciate it."
