About a month after the indecent, I had awoken with my entire leg swollen in pain every day. It wasn't noticeable but I could feel it whenever I took a step. Luckily I had received a pass to skip classes today due to some much needed sleep because of all the restless nights in pain so yay me. Of course this meant I would have to stay in bed today to back up my staying in. According to Malfoy's tellings to Madam Pomfrey to same me some sleep, I had basically woken up this morning paralyzed from the leg down, so I have to make sure it's believable. I wasn't all a lie however. As I said, it hurt to walk.
Rolling over my sheets I sat up and took out a book for some light reading. As much as I was glad that I could skip class, I didn't in any way want to fall behind. About to open the book, the quilts in the bed beside me ruffled stiffly. Immediately I stood up recognizing which bed it was coming from.
"Alex, " I waited for a response but she was still rubbing her eyes, so I stepped back to give her some space. Slowly but surely she stood up rubbing her neck. Blinking several times before fully opening her eyes, she took in the room realizing where she was. When her eyes landed on me she asked,
"How long has it been?"
I sat back down on her bed and helped her comb her hair over, "Almost three days. Mind telling me what happened."
She gazed over to me and let out a sigh, "Look its a long story and I kinda want to take a shower really bad."
"Alright but just know I'm hear to listen, " I called after her while she headed towards the bathroom. She did just wake up so I'm sure she was still frazzled.
She didn't tell me though. The rest of the evening she was gone again and every time she came back for something, she would evade any of my questions. Eventually I gave up and headed over to the common room. As much as I loved my solitude and wanted to help her, I could use some socializing.
Grabbing the railing with a grip tight as glue, I steadily placed all my weight on my healthy leg down the steps. I had almost made it down the stairs successfully when I slipped on the edge of the last step causing me to fall flat on by back. I was sure the effects would have been gone by now. It's been one bloody month and it wasn't even a big snake. So why is it still bloody swollen.
"At this rate you'll end up paralyzed for sure, " I looked up to see Malfoy on the couch laughing at my dismay.
"As always Malfoy, a genuine gentleman ," I got up and heavily walked over to him, "So what are you doing here anyway?"
"I was waiting for Crabbe and Goyle but the fat lubs are taking forever," He rose up and walked towards the exit with the intent of finding them. I moved with him before stopping abruptly with him turning over to me.
"What do you think you're doing?, " He questioned.
"I coming with, besides I need the exercise, " I smiled at him and opened the exit to common room.
He stared at me warily and answered, " You're basically a cripple, you'll only slow me down."
"Whatever Blondie, ladies first, " I motioned him into the hallway and he scoffed at me before walking out. A couple of minutes of me asking around and Malfoy grumpily standing by. We finally found the two idiots standing in the hall with Percy Weasley the Gryffindor prefect. Oh how I detested that boy. He was always so uptight and his attitude was the absolute worst.
Still with a stiff leg, I followed Malfoy towards them.
"Crabbe, Goyle, Where have you two been?, " Malfoy demanded.
Percy looked up at him and then to me and I simply stared back in annoyance. His mere presence irked me.
Malfoy, ignoring Percy continued, "Pigging out in the great hall all this time."
