The following days were hell. Coach Ukai said that he told the principal and that I might be called into his office sometime soon to discuss the full extent of my mother's doing. I couldn't think straight and had to rely on Tsukki to get the notes from class.
Even the team started to see my nervousness in the halls.
"Yo, Tadashi! Are you alright man? You seem really fidgety!" Noya commented, looking up at me. I did my best to smile at him.
"I'm just fine! I got a lot of stuff on my mind is all!" I reassured, slightly pleased by the use of "Man" in his sentence.
I walked over to the lunch table and sat down, Tsukki taking the spot next to me. I lazily listened to what everyone was saying. I pulled out my food and started eating, only to be cut off by the announcements.
"Tadashi Yamaguchi to the principal's office, Tadashi Yamaguchi to the principal's office please!" The secretary's voice rang over the students. I felt my stomach drop as the realization hit. The team all looked at me.
"Damn Yama! Did you get in trouble or something?" Tanaka asked, smiling playfully at me, but I wasn't in the mood for jokes anymore.
"Can you please come with me?" I whispered to Tsukki, getting a determined nod from him. We both stood up and made our way to the office.
The secretary shooed us into the principal's office. He immediately tried to kick Tsukki out though.
"Sir, I would like him to be here, to help keep me calm," I explain and he reluctantly allowed it.
"Coach Ukai has informed me that you are having issues at home, is this correct?" He asked and I nodded my head.
"Could you explain further?" He continued, staring at me expectingly.
"D-Did coach Ukai tell you about my-my," I trailed off, hoping that he got the idea.
"He said you were trans, yes," The principal confirmed.
"M-My mom is very transphobic. She doesn't accept me for who I am, and v-verbally abuses me because of it," I took a shakey breath as I fiddled with my fingers again. I could see Tsukki watching me worriedly from the corner of my eye.
"What do you mean verbally abuses?" the principal asked slowly, allowing me to take my time.
"She calls me slurs, and harmful names, she also forces female pronouns and names onto me whenever possible. She's threatened to tell the whole school and force me to change my name back on the school files," I whisper out, but the principal got the idea.
"Tsukishima, was it? Have you seen this in person?" The principal asked, turning to Tsukki who reluctantly looked away from me.
"I had to yell at her multiple times to respect Tadashi's transition, and I've seen all the names she calls Tadashi. You can look at Tadashi's phone and see the messages she sends," Tsukki explains and the Principal turned back to me.
"I would like to, if that's alright with you," He said carefully and I nodded. I pulled out my phone and numbly flipped through the messaging app, finding her contact. My hands shook so much and it was difficult to click on the right thing. My heart pounded in my chest and my stomach hurt so bad I thought I might throw up.
I slowly handed the phone to the Principal. He read through a few messages before his face scrunched up in disgust.
"I pride myself on being a major supporter of student's personal identification. I must admit that her words do not sit well with me. If she did confront me about changing your school information, I can assure you I would not allow it to happen," The Principal said, and I felt a major boulder be lifted off my chest. I let out a relieved sigh at his words, fighting back my tears.
