Friendship (2)

Chapter 2 - Friendship.

Storm had only been in Mount Justice five minutes before Batman, Captain Marvel, Green Arrow, Flash, Superman and Black Canary arrived to greet her. She was sitting in between Wally and Dick listening to Red Tornado explaining the rules of the Mount.

"Storm!" Captain Marvel exclaimed excitedly as he rushed to his little friend.

Storm smiled shyly at him before he picked her up with one swoop and began to crush her in a bone crushing embrace.

"Captain" Batman growled as he saw the face of pure shock and uncomfortable in Storms eyes as she looked at them from behind Captain Marvels neck.

"Right yeah I forgot" he replied sheepishly as he put her down and scratched the back of his neck.

Storm managed a smile and took a deep breath, hating the large amount of people in the room. What if she did something stupid? She was always doing something stupid.

"It's good to see you again buddie" Flash said as he patted her shoulder.  

Storm tried to wince as he touched the healing bruise there. She nodded and smiled shyly before she looked down and began fiddling with her fingers.

"Team, there's a mission waiting for you. I've left it with Aqualad. He's waiting for you in the bio ship" Batman said with his usual stern voice.

Storm watched as the Team stood from their seats on the couches.

"What about Storm?" Robin asked not wanting to leave her alone.

They had so much catching up to do and he didn't want Batman finding out about Storms dad yet.

"She'll stay here"

Without questioning it Robin left along with the team leaving Storm to feel a little less stressed about the amount of people in the room.

"How've ya been little buddie?" Flash asked as he again rested his hand on her shoulder.

Storm bit her lip trying not to wince again.

"Fine. It's just so different here" she whispered, looking down.

"You will adjust" Red Tornado said.

Storm was taken aback by his statement. She will adjust? Did they want her to stay long?

"Has there been any early development Storm?" Superman asked curious to see what she would say.

Storm spoke loader after a few minutes of silences.

"There's been a bit.. I'm stronger than last time.."

"How strong?" Batman asked wondering if that's why she looked worse than last time.

"I was able to pull a tree from its roots"

"Anything else?" Green Arrow asked surprised that a girl of her height and weight could pull a tree from the ground.

"I've gotten faster"

"Well see about that.." Flash said smiling smugly as he stood back and crossed her arms against his chest making Storm nearly sigh with relief at the realised pressure from her shoulder.

"Show us Storm, we go to the training room" Black Canary said as she took Storms hand and walked her toward the training room where the men followed.

"She's not as open anymore" Superman noted to Batman in a hushed whisper.

"No. Something happened to her to cause her to go back into her shell. We shouldn't have let her go back"

"She's gained a stone since last time we saw her. She's not fit enough to fight along side the team"
