Chapter 45

Two days later Warrior and Nightwing where walking slowly through the forests outside Star city looking for some form of life. The two had to go in their hero outfits, due to their next hybrid being so close to home.

"Are you sure where not lost?" Warrior asked Nightwing as she walked over some sticks blocking her path.

"Ehh.. yeah where lost" Nightwing admitted as he pushed through some hedgerows.

"Wait a go genius.." Storm trailed off as she strained her ears.

She was sure she heard something.

"It's.. oof"

Nightwing rubbed his chest from where he had been hit.

"Ssh!" She said to him as she strained her ears again.

She knew she heard it. The rustling of trees. Knowing she wouldn't be able to pull of one of her knives without alerting the person that seemed to follow them she crouched down into attack, ready.

"What are you.. oof"

Nightwing rubbed his shin as he crouched to her level.

"Ssh" she hissed as she heard it get closer.

It broke through the trees seconds later. Warrior sprung up and grabbed the wolf before it could bite her. Crashing to the ground Warrior could feel the wolf trying to throw her off. Warriors grasp on the wolf loosened. The wolf gave one last shake, so powerful that Warrior came flying off the wolf's back and hitting her back against one of the trees.

Nightwing ran to her side to help her up and try to protect her from the wolf. Helping her to her feet the wolf growled at the two. Storm made a run for the wolf but stopped as a cry broke out from wolf. It wasn't a painful cry like Storm would expect it was a cry of warning.

"Get back Warrior" Nightwing warned.

Storm obversed the wolf for a moment, trying to prove her theory. No wolves lived in these woods.

Knitting her eyebrows together with uncertainy she asked

"Cassandra Bell?"

The wolf sent Warrior an intense stare before turning back and walking through the trees.

"What just happened?" Nightwing asked as he moved closer to her.

Warrior didn't answer him as she listened to the now incoming rustling of the trees as someone neared. A girl with short choppy dark reddish-brown hair that reached to her a little below her ears and parted at the side steps out, giving both of her strange newcomers a look of warning and defense as she leans against a tree.

"What do you want?" She asked.

"Just to talk and offer friendship. I doubt you'd get many in the wilderness" Dick replied as he began what Warrior thought of as a record player playing the same song. "I'm Nightwing and this is Warrior. We come from a team called the Justice League. We mean no harm to you or anyone you may have in your company"

"You tracked all the way out here to tell me that? I know who you guys are. I have satellite. But I still don't know what you want"

"Were gathering Hybrids like yourself to help take down the Light. We need to get as many as we can.."

"The Light? Taking down the Light?" Cassandra stifled a laugh. "Do you have any idea of what the Light can do? What they've done to me and my family?"

"They were all collected bar three. You. Your eldest brother and sister" Warrior said out loud as she remembered reading the names of Cassandra's family memebers.

The word captured written in red print with bracks surround the word.

"How would you know that? Unless your working with the Light"

A growl escaped her lips causing Storm to raise her eyebrow before she stopped herself from making a comment. This girl was tough. She didn't trust them and she was alot stronger than she looked.

"We are not working with the Light" Nightwing said. "We only want to help you"

"Help me? Where were you when me and my family needed help when they came? Well?!"

Warrior knew the signs as Cassandra had a shake going through her body. She was about to turn.

"I know how you feel Cassandra. The Light has ruined my life. I want to get rid of them and I know you do too. Just come and train with us. Meet others like yourself. Maybe your other siblings will be there"

Cassandra narrows her eyes as if she was thinking over her decision. Before Nightwing could see it, Cassandra sped off into the bush.

"Where'd she go?" He asked Warrior.

"Dunno.. should we leave?" She asked him unsure of what to do.

They hadn't been exactly ditched before on a mission. They wondered if any other hybrids where going to do the same. Two minutes later Cassandra sprung out from where she had disappeared. A gym bag strapped across her back. She smiled at both hero's as she walked past them.

"Well you guys coming? I don't know where I'm meant to go"

"Your coming with us Cassandra?"

"Whoa betcha don't get that a lot.." She said sarcasticly. "And call me Cassy"

Both heros looked to each other and smiled.

"Great" Nightwing said as he spoke to Miss Martian via mind link to get her to pull the ship down to their location.

A/N: Whoa.. haven't even updated this in like three days.. sorry guys I've been busy trying to write and finish other stories and live my last days of my holiday until my Junior Cert. :( so I'll update next when I get some feed back. Hope I got Cassy right :P
