When the police dropped me off I walked in the hospital and went up to the front desk. “I’m looking for a girl named Song Minji. She was brought here in an ambulance a little earlier.”
The woman at the desk looked at me for a few seconds before typing stuff into the computer. “She is not allowed to have visitors yet.” She looked at me one last time. “Young man I think you need to get your face looked at. I’m sure you have a broken nose.”
I brought my hand up to my face and touched my nose. I hissed at the instant pain and pulled away quickly. I just nodded at the lady and she told me to take a seat. Sighing I sat down in the busy waiting room and leaned back in the seat as much as possible.
I knew I would be here for awhile because this is not my first visit to an emergency room. Most of the time I got to leave within two hours but I was here for Minji so it would be a lot longer than that. I got comfortable and thought about Minji’s dad.
Now that I had seen him I understood why she was so afraid of everyone. He could really throw a punch. I winced remembering the pain. I can’t believe she hadn’t at least moved to the other side of the country to get away from him. I mentally yelled at Minji and her mom for not thinking more. Of course they would run in to him if they lived in the same neighborhood. Women don’t ever think.
“Min Yoongi.” I heard a nurse call my name and I stood up.
She lead me into a room and told me to do all the normal doctor stuff like look into a light and follow her finger. She told me I didn’t have a concussion and even though my nose was broken it didn’t need to be set again. When she asked what had happened I just told her I had gotten into a fight. I tried to make it sound sad and told her my girlfriend had been injured too but I hadn’t been able to see her yet.
The nurse got tears in her eyes and asked for her name. She quickly looked up Minji’s room number and told me to follow her. We went down several halls and at the end of one of the many halls was Minji’s room.
“I can only give you five minutes.” She waved me into the room and walked off.
I opened the door and walked in. Minji was in bed watching TV when the door opened. She looked up at me and awkwardly smiled. “Hi, Yoongi.”
I walked over to the bed and hugged her. “You scared me to death you idiot.” I hugged her tighter and only let go when she said she couldn’t breath.
I pulled a chair beside her bed and sat down. “You can’t do something like that again.” I looked her in the eyes. “Next time I tell you to run you need to run.”
She looked at me for a few minutes like she couldn’t understand. “Yoongi. This was something I had to do.” She stopped and took a breath. “I needed to face my own demons. I understand now why you got so mad at me when I tried to fix your problems and I’m sorry.” She grabbed my hand. “And thank you Yoongi for helping me.”
She smiled at me and I stared at her. “Minji. Your stutter is gone.”
“Because I don’t have to be afraid when you’re with me.” I half smiled and half laughed at her. She laughed to but we both knew that she had fixed her stutter on her own by standing up to her dad.
We sat and talked for the rest of the time but eventually the nurse came in and told me I had to go. I said goodbye to Minji and told her I’d visit tomorrow. I walked the long way back to the front of the hospital and left.
On the walk home all I could think about was how much my mom was going to yell at me. I had been in a fight, skipped school and not to mention I had to go to the hospital too. I knew she was going to kill me. I sighed and looked at the front door of my house. Or now what I saw now was the door to hell.
When I opened the door I immediately heard my mom yelling. “Min Yoongi, get in here right now!”
I lowered my head to try and hide my nose and walked into the kitchen where my mom was. She came up to me and lifted my face so she could see my nose. She gasped and glared at me. “You idiot. You skip school and then get into a fight.” I was getting ready to explain but she cut me off. “The police called so I know everything that happened.”
I mentally told myself to tell the police a fake name next time. “I’m sorry mom.”
“Sorry isn’t good enough you are grounded until you graduate.” I stared at my mom in shock.
“Mom that’s a whole month!” I shouted feeling like my rights had been violated.
“I know that. You go to school and come home. The only exception is community service.” I groaned.
My mom yelled at me for a few more minutes and then let me go up to my room. I got to my room and washed all the blood of my face and took a shower. When I finally got all the blood off me I walked over to my computer and looked up the blogs for underground rappers.
I was scrolling through the comments and found what Minji had been saying about Namjoon trying to get rid of all my fans. There was a lot of rumors about me that were ridiculous. Apparently I had a kid and was addicted to drugs and there was some more rumors that are too horrible to talk about. With each new rumor I felt more anger build up in me. I thought about taking it all out on Namjoon at school but then I saw a the lyrics to a song I had been working on laying beside me on my desk.
I opened up my music editor on my computer and started to work on my song. I channeled all my anger into the song. I wrote about the people I had encountered in life and their stories. I wrote about my story and how I had been changed and how life had always been against me. What I wrote about most though was how I had been attacked. I felt all my anger disappear the more I worked.
When I finished the song I immediately got ready to upload it but I knew better than to put it under my own name since it had been ruined by Namjoon. I tried to think of a name but when I couldn’t I texted Minji and asked her. A few minutes later I got a text back.
Well you’re really pale and most of the time you’re sweet if people get to know you… how about sugar?
I laughed and thought about it before deciding on Suga because I couldn’t be a rapper called sugar. That would be ridiculous. I uploaded the song with the new name and stepped back from the computer. All I had to do now was wait.
I looked at the clock at saw that I had stayed up all night working on the song and it was almost time for school. I groaned and got up to get ready to go to my least favorite place in the world.
