Chapter 10: The Beginning part 3

"Now would you tell me?"

A few months had passed since the day Surya had opened up to a complete stranger who was willing to lend a helping hand. And day by day, the bond between the two seemingly became stronger.

"Hey."

Surya greeted the person who was standing near the school gate and waved his hand when he arrived. That person was none other than Asha. She was waiting for him to come so that they can enter the school together. After seeing him, she puffed up her cheeks and narrowed her eyes.

"You're late."

Surya replied with a relaxed smile on his face.

"Hehehe, I'm sorry. But I was chatting until midnight with you only."

Her cheeks puffed up even more, but then her face quickly turned into one with a gentle smile.

"Let's go."

And Surya replied,

"Yeah."

They were going to their class quite cheerfully, but Surya finally asked her something which was bugging him from the day they met.

"Don't you regret what happened that day??

You told me that day that you're an S rank ... You can have anything and everything you want but you stay with me. Are you sure I'm actually worth all this trouble?"

Asha just glanced at him and answered.

"Don't worry about it."

After a few hours, during class, Surya was sitting thinking to himself while looking at Asha.

'I wonder what she thinks of me?? Does she think I'm weak?? I want her to think I'm strong. But...'

As soon as he stopped and thought about those bullies, he became terrified. It was as if he wanted to vomit but couldn't.

But as soon as he looked at her once again, it was as if all the terror just went away in an instant.

'She makes me feel safe, she stays with me as a friend, she protects me... And what did I ever do for her?? Because of me, she became isolated... No one in my class likes her... Because she helped a nobody like me, no one likes her... Actually, no, it wasn't that no one likes her...

It's actually because she's so kind to me and that she stays with me, everyone else stays away from her. It's because of me that she's alone.'

Surya clenches his fist, disgusted with himself. Then suddenly,

"Surya, please stop staring at the new student and start paying attention to what I'm saying."

It was the teacher.

Surya shyly moved his eyes towards his book. But before that, he noticed that Asha started looking at the floor with her face completely red. Seeing that, even his face became completely red.

But while most of the people present in the class started giggling, there were also those, who weren't completely happy.

Because of that girl..."

Because of Asha, the bullies who could take out their pent up frustrations on Surya without any worries were now incapable of doing that. This was because now, he always accompanied by her.
