Chapter 20: Latent heat Part 1

"What??!!"

Surya yelled out loudly. As soon as they heard him, his parents and Asha also jumped out of their rooms.

"How?? When??"

Asha was completely shocked as she had no idea that a gate had opened in their home.

BOOOM

The sound of something ramming on the gate came from the other side.

BOOOM

Surya turns to Asha and they both nod, he then turns to his parents.

"Mom, dad we have to run. Hurry!!!!"

Asha rushed into her room and got her spare weapons as the main ones were kept in the guild office.

'The gate looks like it's going to open soon, why didn't I sense it??? Damn it...'

In a hurry, she puts on her armor and takes her spear.

'Contact the guild, right now..'

Then she realized something.

'Wait... Why didn't the magical sensors pick it up??? Even if I didn't sense it because I was sleeping, there's no way that the institution didn't.'

Under normal circumstances, as soon as a gate opens, the satellites locate them and within a matter of moments, the entire place fills up with hunters. It hardly takes a couple of hours for a gate to open, so, hunters need to be ready 24/7. That's exactly the reason the streets are always filled with hunters on patrol.

BOOM CRACK

Surya and his parents got ready in a few minutes' time and with Asha ready in her hunter attire got in front of the gate.

"The gate has opened directly in front of the door."

"I'll make a way."

Asha gave a confident reply to Surya.

BAAAM

And with a swift blow, made a large hole in the wall next to the gate.

"Run!!!! Quick!!! I'll hold them off until you guys escape... And ring the emergency bell and tell everyone to evacuate!!!"

Unlike their previous home, this was an apartment building, so, there were many other residents completely oblivious to the fact that there was a gate ready to open at any single moment.
