Author's note: In one of my historical fiction stories, there is a main character called the Oriental Masked King. The Oriental Masked King was a young boy once...honestly, his childhood is so tragic.

"It's a devil!" cried the King.

The mother dead, his wife hungry for blood.

As the bells to signal a prince's birth ring,

the Queen cries, "Let's nip this in the bud!"

They shout, "Kill the beast!"

"Stop," cries the High Priest to the scoffers,

henceforth he declared a feast!

"This heir is to bring prosperity to our coffers!"

However, others spat on the dog

till the prince cannot tell who be friend or foe.

While in the palace a daily flog

was the status quo.

A General taught him a monster is to feared,

and men are to live beneath them.

The Wardog grew to be revered,

all while under his thumb.

Now the beast stands as the richest of Kings,

friends with no one,

still endless fortunes he brings,

yet others wish him undone.

Author's note: Basically, he was born scarred, treated as a dog his entire life even by his teacher, a General, and forced to be King in the name of a prophecy. Yay? That's the meaning of the poem if it's a bit confusing. Definitely how you raise a stable, healthy adult and wise ruler. (not)

Author's note: Title is a reference to a Disney song: Muppet of a Man, or Manly Muppet. Partly influenced by The Bells of Notre Dame from Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame.
