Author's note: I have always liked this song once discovering it. It helped me through a rough time in my life, and always reminded me of a certain character in one of my own stories. (Helped me write him too.)

Once upon a time, a little boy wanted more.

He went through life going with the flow.

Other's arrangements were a chore.

Then, the boy decided he was through.

Stowing away, he left on a self-discovery trip,

and got attached to a heroic girl.

Developing a fellowship,

he let his doubts regarding the situation unfurl.

Unfortunately, reality set in.

His vengeful brother came after him.

Mockingbird, the ultimate kingpin,

had had enough of his foolish whim.

Recovering from the ordeal,

he still nevertheless kept lying.

As she made him feel

like life could be satisfying.

When she found out, he lost,

like his own brother had forewarned.

He who once disregarded others at any cost,

now all scorned.

"The truth is you made me feel complete,

and I thought you would throw me away.

Now I see the deceit,

and I will make it up to you someday."

She frowned, still upset.

"I forgive you,

but you owe me quite a debt."

Then, as if on cue,

he was accepted again,

never to lie so vehemently.

The boy would not be her bane,

but by her side ceaselessly.

Author's note: The character is from WGM, Imposter and other GEAR Universe stories: James. None of the events are spoilers if you've read WGM. However, I wanted to capture what he felt at this moment in time, and how he felt regarding Maria, the main protagonist. (Their unlikely friendship even though he is the heir of the biggest villainous organization the heroes have to face. Due to his background, he comes to help her and be needy for her presence-clingy, if you will. When it's found out who he is, well...he makes a quick self-reflection.)
