Somehow, by some miracle, dusk had broken over the horizon and the members of the squad had watched Ivy, Oswald, and Joker drive off deep into the bowels of the narrows.
Their injuries were minor but the information they had gathered was huge. Harley, despite her injuries, was desperate to find Lucy. They had scoped the streets on their way back and hadn't found her, which worried her immensely.
It also made her question how true it was that Lucy was truly out there. Was she hallucinating? She took a pretty nasty hit and by the time she was taken back to the headquarters to be assessed, she was out cold.Between her daughter and reeling over her past loves, she had found herself at a strange crossroads.
Boomerang had collapsed himself upon setting Harley down onto the hospital bed. He had lost quite a bit of blood and was currently receiving a transfusion.
Flagg, upon receiving medical treatment, found his right arm broken. Scrapes and bruises would be forgotten soon, but the broken arm would really set him back. He had grown frustrated and retreated to his office for rest.
Dead shot had a sprained ankle. Nothing serious. But frustrating considering the fact that he wanted to desperately to check on Zoey. Waller had forbid any of them from going to the room the children were in. They were provided with food, water, and facilities by random employees of hers. It was daunting knowing that his daughter was right under his nose and yet, he couldn't even comfort her.
But he was counting his blessings considering at least his daughter was safe. Lucy was still out there.
He knew he saw her too, but their desperate search for her had to be cut short. They needed medical attention ASAP."What happened?" Deadshot heard the voice of the woman he was working for. He turned to face her and froze when he saw her handing him a hot cup of coffee.
He took it reluctantly from her and looked at her in a distrusting manner.
"You sure it ain't poison?" He asked.
"Not when I still need you for this mission." She replied coldly. "But it's not above me."
"Yeah, I know," he said, looking down at the cup.
"Your daughter is safe, if thats what you're thinking." Waller said, walking past him.
"Yeah? Well that's good," he said, taking a sip of the coffee and walking up alongside her. They were now in front of several tv screens. A surveillance system.
"Oh hey," he said, wiping his chain, "what about, uh, Lucy?" He asked knowingly.
Waller looked up at him. "What about her?"
"She safe?" Deadshot asked.
Before she could answer, Waller narrowed her eyes and began typing on her keyboard. Instantly, the screens lit up, displaying various display points where the children were staying. Deadshot looked up amazed, instantly finding his daughter.
But as he focused on his Zoey, a smile forming on his face at the fact that she truly was there, safe and sound, Waller clicked desperately at the keyboard, her breathing getting heavier when she realized she was one person short.
"Shit. Shit! Shit!" Waller slammed her fist on the keyboard. She immediately looked up at Deadshot, a gun pointed up at him.
"Hey, whoa whoa," Deadshot dropped his coffee and put his hands up, "you ain't gotta go there."
"Where is she?" Waller asked in an angry tone.
"You tell me. We left here she was safe, then we see her at the fucking battlefield." He responded in equal anger. He walked closer to Walkers gun, his eyes narrowed down at her, "And she almost fucking ran into her dad. You know who."
Waller slowly put her gun down.
"This is bad." She said, looking up at Deadshot. "So you don't know anything about this?"
"No, trust me, I'm just as shocked as you are." He replied.
Waller sighed and sat back down. After a few minutes of complete silence, she sighed and smirked, rubbing her eyes. "I should have known."
"Known what?"
"Who always finds a way out? Who always escapes? Whose daughter is she?" Waller asked, looking up at Deadshot.
____________
Ivy had made it back home.
Her greenhouse.
Her sanctuary. Nothing and no one ever survived here unless she willed them to. That's what being Mother Nature herself was all about. What was so special about Ivy was that she had started out as nothing.
No power. No skill. No thought of where she'd end up in the future. She loved the flowers and because she loved them so and took such good care of them, it seems her flowers loved her too.But as time went on, her abilities to manipulate the earth were slowly revealed.
She was placed in Arkham for what was described as irresponsible behavior. She was caught redhanded seducing rich (and sometimes married) men, killing them, and stealing from them. How else was she supposed to get by?
And living in Gotham, those men were bad men anyway.
No use in crying over spilt wine, especially if the wine was tainted anyway. This was the philosophy she carried throughout her life. And as time went on, Ivy's abilities blossomed more and more.
It started with plants, it grew to trees and now, as she planted her fists firmly to the ground, she was able to trigger tectonic activity from within the earth. It was dangerous, and she knew it.
She was afraid to unleash her powers fully, afraid she could somehow be responsible to the disturbance of the very nature she loved and vied to protect, destroying it."Nice place you got here, albeit a little tacky. But i get it." A voice was heard behind her.
She didn't even have to turn around, her attention still focused on trimming and spraying a plant in a pot."Clown.."
