(I did a thing.)
It was eerily quiet.
Everyone had taken a pick of their weapons and scattered about the chemical plant. Flagg wasn't too thrilled with the prospect of having everyone out of sight but the place was weird and he doubted anyone would want to mess around in here anyway.
Harley had climbed up all the way to the top, taking a moment to reminisce. She worked through all of the same emotions she had when she first came here with J. It was almost cathartic being here again under very different circumstances. Once she reached the top, she was practically out of breath but the scene before her was worth it.
As she walked to the edge of the platform where she had once stood, she replayed every second of those vile memories in her head.
The feelings she felt when she looked down, knowing this one event would bind her to the Joker forever.
The realization that she probably wouldn't get out of it alive at that point, even if she tried.
The way she felt when J kissed her right before she took that plunge into liquids unknown.
She wasn't thinking of the consequences; would she die? would she live? would she be abandoned?
Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard footsteps behind her, the very same footsteps she had heard all those years ago before she had taken the fall.
"Feeling nostalgic, Harls?"
Harley winced at his voice, so smooth yet conniving.
"Feeling stupid," she muttered.
He walked closer and closer to her until his chest and her back made contact. He took a moment to study her hair, her ears, anything he could scan his eyes over. He was thankful for a second that she was facing away from him.
A small part of him, that nagging, annoying, insignificant little speck in his heart missed her. He missed having that blonde psychologist chasing him. He missed her crashing his dinners and heists. He didn't regret making Harley Quinn, he only regretted pushing her away. And he would NEVER admit it.
"That's why you're here," he smirked, "because you were stupid. Everything that has ever happened started because of where we're standing. Right here. Because you were stupid." He spoke slowly, making sure his words pierced her heart.
To his surprise, Harley smirked.
"It was also the best thing that ever happened to me. The best thing to ever come out of you. My precious Lucy." Harley sighed and turned around to face him. She looked...angelic. She looked just like she did many years ago, before she jumped willingly into the unknown, before J had leaned in to kiss her.
Their eyes locked and their smiles were gone.
"You'd love her. She's very smart. She's very pretty." Harley spoke as J leaned his head on hers, their foreheads resting against each other. "She's all the best parts of us entwined in one."
"Chaos." He smirked.
"None of that. She's the opposite of chaos. She's the opposite of every single thing you stand for, J. And yet, she has your blood in her veins." Harley admitted.
"Why didn't you tell me?" He asked.
"You woulda killed us. Killed her. Is she even alive now?" Harley asked suspiciously.
Joker looked down and sighed, pulling away from her. He looked around and ensured no one was within earshot. He leaned in to Harley once again and whispered in a stern tone "she's the only person I'd give my life for." And with that, he spun on his heels and began to walk away.
But out of impulse, Harley couldn't help herself. She grabbed onto his shirt and pulled him back towards her. Before joker could question it, she had pulled him in for a deep kiss.
