Fighting For Forever

Ok, so if you watch the show The 100, then you'll know who Octavia is. This poem was inspired by her. I hope you like it.

I wipe the dirt off of my hands.

I wash the mud off of my head.

The clear water runs down my scarred body.

Immediately it turns red.

I put on my armor.

I grab my sword.

I step onto the battlefield.

Ready to fight the army hoard.

They're monsters of darkness,

But I guess I'm a monster too.

My clothes are soaked in their blood.

How did I get here? That's where I'm confused.

As I dip my fingers into a blood drenched puddle,

I remember who I used to be.

As I smear my bloody fingers down my face,

I can see the old me.

I used to be so innocent.

So naive and kind.

But after my experience,

I have become scarred for life.

My spirit was once the same as a butterfly,

Beautiful and sweet.

But ever since I was sent here to die,

My mind hasn't been complete.

Now I fight in a battle every day.

I've seen so many terrible things,

I fear I'll never be the same again.

They've finally managed to break my wings.

They can torture me all they want.

They can cut me and break my bones.

That doesn't break my mind you see,

I can handle physical pain, but I can't do what I'm told.

But they found a way to break my mind,

They found my one weak spot.

By capturing the ones I love,

To save them I would do anything they want.

So now you can see,

Why my heart has become so cold.

I've been a warrior for so long,

I've been fighting for forever in this cruel world.
