Time Changes Things

Chapter 1

(Mer POV)

I groaned as my eyes adjusted to the light. I had a really bad feeling about today. Like I was going to die. I slowly and reluctantly rolled out of bed to go relieve myself in the bathroom. Another day of watching Derek and Addison together. Yay. I looked in the mirror as I brushed my teeth and studied the tired and disheveled look I had on. I decided to touch it up with a little makeup, which helped a little bit, but didn't compare to Addison who didn't need any makeup. I finished up in the bathroom and made my way out to the kitchen to greet George and Izzie. "Good morning." I said mid yawn. "Morning Mer. Cristina and Alex were on call last night so they just stayed at the hospital." George explained while taking a sip of his coffee. "Okay. You guys almost ready to go?" I asked while I poured my coffee into my to go cup. "Yeah, let's go." Izzie said as we headed towards the door. I got into the drivers seat and stepped on the pedal. "How are you feeling today Mer?" George asked sweetly. "I'm okay, not looking forward to seeing Derek today, but I'm okay." I replied. "Good. I'm here for you you know? We both are." George said. "Yeah, Mer, same as Cristina and Alex." Izzie followed. "I know guys, thank you, I really appreciate it." We pulled into the parking lot and grabbed our stuff. I had the late shift tonight, so I packed a bag with some extra clothes and snacks. "Ready for another day?" I asked. "Hell yeah, let's go!" George said.

We made our way to the intern locker room and weren't surprised to see Alex and Cristina all ready for the day. "Hey guys." I said. "Hey Mer, I got to scrub in on 2 surgeries last night! I LOVE this job!" Cristina exclaimed happily. I laughed at her enthusiasm. I quickly took my shirt off and changed into my scrub shirt, watching George eye my abs. "Like what you see George?" I asked while laughing. "Uh no- I mean it's not that it's bad, I mean it's good but I wasn't looking." George rambled. I just turned around and laughed. I headed towards the bathroom to change into my scrub pants. Once I was finished, I walked back towards everyone. "So, do you guys want to-." I was talking until I was interrupted by Bailey barging into the room. "Okay everyone, I've been on call for the past 2 nights and I'm in no mood today. You will all behave and not complain today, got it?" She asked. "Yes Dr. Bailey." We all said in unison. "Okay good. Yang your on Burke's service today, Karev your on Montgomery Shepherds service, stevens your with Torres, O'Malley your with me, and Grey, Shepherd has requested you today. I gave her a look "great." I mumbled under my breath. "Hey. I thought we said no complaining!" She yelled. "No complaining here Dr. Bailey." I said as I headed off to find Derek.
