Post op day 1

(Der POV)

I woke up to voices outside the room. Then I remembered the woman I had in my arms. She was peacefully sleeping in arms and I wouldn't want it any other way. Meredith stirred and was about to wake up. I kissed her head gently. Meredith woke up and immediately grimaced in pain. "Ow." She mumbled sleepily. "Good morning." I said quietly. "Hi." She said as she tried to bury herself in my chest. We were about to fall back asleep, but we're awoken by a bunch of doctors coming in the room to do rounds. "Meredith grey, 28, post op day 1 from a lung repairment and brachial plexus on the right shoulder." An intern said. "Right, and whats the plan for today?" Wells asked. "We want to get her sitting up today." Another intern chirped. "Right. Okay, she looks good Dr Shepherd." Wells said. "Thank you." I replied. I looked down and Meredith was already asleep. I decided I should get some sleep too, so I nodded off.

(Mer POV)

I'm so tired. Everything hurts. But dereks holding me, so that helps. I woke up and cuddled into Derek. This caused him to wake up, but I have so many questions. "What's up Mer? You okay?" He asked. "Yeah." I said quietly. "What happened?" I asked. "Well, a shooter ca-." I cut him off. "No I mean to me, what are my injuries?" I asked. "Well, one shot hit your lung and put a hole in it so we had to repair thag, and the other shot hit your brachial plexus nerve. Dr Stanton repaired it and you should have 100% function with a lot of PT." He explained. Brachial plexus? That's not good. "Where's your wife?" I questioned. He looked at me like I was crazy. "We're over Mer. We're done. I love you" He replied. I looked up at him. "What?!" I asked. "I love you. And I shouldn't have picked Addison. Your the love of my life." He said. I started tearing up at his words. " I love you too" I whispered. Right as we were about to kiss, we were interrupted by Dr Wells Bailey and Richard. "Okay, let's get you sitting up Ms Grey." He said. "So, you can use my or dr shepherds arm to pull yourself up with your good arm. Derek will support your back gently we're gonna try to keep you up for 5 minutes. Sound good?" Dr Wells asked. "Sounds good." I said while grabbing dereks hand. I slowly tried to pull myself up. "Damn" I said while I stretched my incisions out. "You got it." Derek whispered. I pulled myself up all the way and just sat there, breathing heavily. "You did it. Now we just gotta wait a few minutes." Derek said. I just nodded and focused on my breathing. "Okay, you did well, you can lay back down now." Wells said. Derek helped me lay back in the pillows and I instantly fell asleep.

(Der POV)

"How's she doing? Honestly?" I asked the three doctors. "She's doing good. Our main goal this next week is to make sure that lung doesn't collapse. Her vitals are good. She'll probably be stuck in here for another week, and then she'll start PT." Richard said. "Good. Is anyone else here for her?" I asked. "Yeah, the interns, some nurses, Torres, even Addison is here." Richard replied. "Speaking of which, you may want to talk to her." He added. "I will right now. Page me if she wakes up?" I asked. "Of course." He answered. I walked over to the waiting to inform everyone. "She's gonna be fine. She was up for a little while a few times. She sat up by herself. Addy, can we talk?" I asked. "Uh yeah sure." She replied.
