Post op day 4

(Mer POV)

"Mmmm wake up Der." I said to the man holding me. "Whattimeisit?" He mumbled. "8 and I have to try to walk in a few minutes." I said. He carefully got out of bed and pulled me in for a passionate kiss. "I love you." He said. "I love you too." I replied. Bailey and Richard walked in "Alright Grey, we're gonna get you up and walking now. So your just gonna swing your legs over the bed and with your good hand use dereks hand for help. I'll put my hand under your other elbow to help. Then, your just gonna stand and try to take a few steps." Richard explained. "Got it." I said as I sat up. I grabbed dereks hand and slowly swung my legs over the bed. I started to lift myself off of the bed. My sore incisions were yelling at me to stop. "Damn." I muttered under my breath. I took a few steps towards the door before I got tired. "Break." I said while panting and leaned most of my body weight on Derek. "Good job Mer. You did good." He said quietly. "Okay Grey, let's get you back to bed." Bailey said as they both helped me into bed. "So, everything seems good. You should be out of here in 2 days. You'll relax at home for a few days, and then come to PT." Bailey explained. I nodded and sunk back into the pillows. "Get some sleep." Richard said as they both walked out of the room. "Derek go take care of yourself. You haven't left this room in days. Go home. Shower. I'm not going anywhere." I said. "But-." He started. "No buts. Go. I'll be sleeping." I replied sternly.

(Der POV)

I waited until she fell asleep to leave. What she said is true. I haven't showered in days. I haven't eaten much. I walked out of her room and headed towards my car. Wait. I don't have a car, it's at our hospital. I decided to just call a cab. I climbed in and told him the address. "Thanks man!" I said. I jogged towards the trailer to find my soon to be ex wife and Mark in bed together. Again. "Well, isn't this cozy?" I asked coldly. "Get out." I said quieter. They both scrambled to get their clothes on. I just stared at them. I was expecting to feel some sadness or sometning, but I didn't feel anything towards them. All I cared about was getting back to Meredith. Once they left, I quickly jumped into the shower. I have to admit, it did feel good after going without one for days. Once I finished, I wrapped a towel around my waist and went to the bedroom. I picked out a pair of grey sweatpants and a sweatshirt. I went to the fridge to find that it was empty. I'll just get something from the cafe by the hospital. I called a cab again and hopped in. Once we got to the hospital, I stopped at the cafe. "I'll have a large caramel macchiato and a scone please." She handed me my items. I walked off towards merediths room to find it empty. My heart started racing and I took off towards the nurses station only to be met by Bailey. "She's fine. Great actually. We took her for CT just to make sure there was no residual bleeding or anything and it's fine. She can leave first thing tommrow." She explained. I simply nodded and took in a huge breath of relief. "She should be back in her room now. Probably asleep." Bailey said. I walked back to her room to find her knocked out cold. I climbed into bed behind her and wrapped my arms around her and fell asleep.
