Luke knew that he needed to give Mary space but he was afraid that if he left her then what he and Mary had would be over. He really didn't want that to happen. So with his chest heaving fast he took small steps up the stairs to Mary's room and knocked softly on the door.
"Babe," Luke sighed softly when Mary didn't open the door, "I'm gonna come in." and with that, Luke opened the door and saw Mary wrapped up in her sheet with her back against the bed-frame.
"Go away," Mary muttered softly, "I don't deserve you, everyone knows that."
"Oh, shut up," Luke trailed off softly, trying to find something to say that would ease up the situation, "if it's someone who doesn't deserve the other it is clearly me." He chuckled and took small steps towards Mary's bed.
Mary shook her head and Luke didn't know if that meant that she didn't agree with him or if that meant that she didn't want him to get closer to her, he hoped that it was the first one because he didn't stop walking.
"Come on, baby." Luke said, now sitting next to Mary on the bed. He reached out for her face and gently caressed her cheek.
Mary refused to look Luke in the eyes, because she knew that if she did she would give in to him immediately, she didn't want that to happen because Luke was too good for her.
Luke leaned in closer to Mary and left a chaste kiss on her cheek, god, he really wanted to kiss her properly but he was afraid that she'd get mad at him.
"Mary," Luke chuckled, pinching her cheek, "you're so cute."
"Oh, shut up," Mary mumbled, rolling her eyes, "you're the cute one in our relationship."
Mary's choice of words made something ignite inside of Luke, he felt some kind of hope, like Mary hadn't fully given up yet. Thinking about that made Luke grin really widely and he felt his cheeks heat up.
"Relationship?" Luke questioned, his heart beating really fast.
"Yeah." Mary whispered and turned around to face Luke, taking his hand in hers.
Luke didn't know if he would get smacked in the face for it, but he leaned in closer to Mary and pressed his lips against Mary's. He had really missed the feeling of her lips, he didn't understand how he had gone almost a week without kissing her.
Mary started to move her lips against Luke's and she didn't understand how she had ever thought about breaking up with Luke.
Luke broke away from the heated up kiss - much to Mary's dislike - and raised his pinky finger.
"Promise to never do that to me ever again Mary Anne, I can't live without you."
Mary brought up her pinky and wrapped it against Luke's.
"Pinky promise." Mary giggled, biting her bottom lip.
"God, I love you." Luke whispered and kissed Mary again and again and again all over her face.
"I love you too." Mary laughed whilst being peppered with Luke's kisses.
Luke took both of Mary's hands in his and rubbed his thumbs over the back of her hands.
"The summer holiday is over in like two weeks." Luke trailed off, haven thought about it from out of nowhere.
"Yeah," Mary sighed, "but I don't have anything that I have to do so my holiday just keeps going."
"What do you mean?" Luke asked, raising his eyebrows.
"I don't have school, nor do I work." Mary shrugged, she had honestly thought that she had told him that or that he had figured it out somehow.
"What?" Luke asked, surprised.
"Yeah." Mary nodded, she was kind of embarrassed because her life seemed honestly pointless at times.
"But how do you get money and such?" Luke asked, still very confused at how Mary was just at home instead of doing something.
"My parents." Mary shrugged, she didn't see the big deal but apparently Luke did.
"You have to get a job, Mary" Luke said with a very serious tone (Mary didn't like the fact that he was so serious about this.)
"No." Mary said, scrunching her eyebrows and shaking her head.
"Yes." Luke interrogated, nodding his head.
Mary just kept shaking her head and Luke kept nodding like two little kids.
"Stop," Mary groaned, "you're not my parent."
"Well someone clearly has to tell you that you have to start working or like go to college, like what are you supposed to do in five years when you can't live off of your parents' money." Luke said, trying to prove his point.
"I don't know." Mary mumbled, shrugging.
"Yes, you do." Luke pushed on.
"No." Mary snapped, she was getting kind of angry with Luke now because he had no right in telling Mary what she had to do. She lived her life and he lived his life.
"God, you're so stubborn." Luke groaned which resulted in Mary pushing Luke backwards at his chest.
Mary sat up from the bed in a rush to get as far away from Luke as possible but Luke quickly grabbed Mary's wrists in his hands.
"No, don't leave like that again." Luke snapped, she had just promised him that she wouldn't leave him and then she does this, Luke was angry and confused and sort of sad.
"Let go of me." Mary said, trying to maintain a calm tone.
"No," Luke responded, shaking his head and pulling Mary into his lap, "you can't just run away from everything."
"You can't tell me what to do with my life, Luke." Mary said, looking Luke straight in the eyes.
"I know I can't, I'm just trying to make you realize that you have to make your own money in some way." Luke said, his arms tightly around Mary's waist, her side pressed to his front.
"I know." Mary snapped, trying to get out of Luke's embrace, but Luke refused to let go of his girlfriend.
"Luke." Mary groaned.
"Mary." Luke groaned back before laughing which made Mary start to laugh as well because they were acting like two kids and both of them knew that.
After a couple of minutes of soft laughter Mary turned around so she had her legs at each side of Luke's legs.
"I'm just trying to help you." Luke mumbled, pressing his lips against Mary's neck.
"I don't need help." Mary hummed softly, the feeling of Luke's lips against her skin relaxing her.
"I know." Luke mumbled his lips now against her collarbone.
"Good." Mary sighed, Luke's lips traveling further down.
"You're my baby girl." Luke hummed, his hands on Mary's hips.
"Yeah?" Mary moaned softly, her eyes closed.
"Yeah." Luke said, guiding Mary back and forth on his lap with his hands.
"Say it again." Mary demanded, her hands reaching down to the end of Luke's shirt and lifting it over his head.
"Baby girl." Luke moaned, taking off Mary's top and bra for her before sliding her sweatpants down her legs along with her underwear.
"God."
