2.5 - The park

I have changed some crucial content in chapter 2.1 - A lot, so you should reread the part where Mary thinks about Kate

''Are we there soon?'' Mary said, the excitement of Luke's surprise growing by every second that passed.

Luke looked around at their surroundings, the park only a couple of feet away. The night was evident and no people except for the young couple walking hand in hand were out.

''Yeah'' Luke answered holding onto Mary's hand like his life depended on it, sometimes it felt that way for Luke.

With each nearing step Luke got more and more nervous, what if Mary didn't like this small surprised he had thought of during them watching a movie. Luke never wished to disappoint Mary.

Maybe Mary noticed Luke's hesitation, maybe she didn't but she stopped walking, halting Luke at the same time and held his face between her hands.

''I love you'' Mary said before leaving a chaste kiss on Luke's lips.

Luke was sure that Mary knew that he loved her but he couldn't help but whisper back a soft ''I love you''.

After another short period of walking hand in hand the two were finally at the park. Luke stopped walking and shouted out a ''Yay'' making Mary laugh. God, Luke loved Mary's laugh it always made Luke's stomach flutter and it just made him feel pure happiness.

Luke put down the backpack on the ground and crouched down to take out a picnic mat which he then put on the grass at the empty, peaceful park.

He gestured his hand toward to the picnic mat and Mary gladly took a seat. Luke then took out the sandwiches and the sodas that he had stuffed inside his backpack.

He took out two small candles and lit them before also putting them down on the grass beside the mat.

''Luke wh-'' Mary started but was soon cut by Luke shushing her.

''No talking'' He said softly, concentrated on fixing everything.

Mary thought that Luke looked so fucking adorable when he was concentrated because he would always have his lower lip between his teeth and his eyebrows scrunched together in the middle.

Mary could feel her stomach start to flutter and all she could think about was Luke and how he made her feel, how he always was able to make her stomach go crazy.

People said that you felt love with your heart, but when it came to Mary loving Luke it all happened in her stomach.

Luke took out his laptop and sat down next to Mary with it on his lap.

''Luke'' Mary whispered slowly but she didn't get a response so she figured that she would have to wait until Luke was done with whatever he was doing.

And then she heard the classic intro music for movies and even though she really wanted to watch a movie with Luke she would have rather just spend their time in the park talking.

So when Luke turned around to face Mary after he had put down the laptop on the picnic mat with a huge grin on his face Mary reached out for the laptop and shut the laptop closed before he had even gotten time to tell her what movie they were going to watch.

Luke wore a puzzled face, didn't Mary like this surprise. Dammit he knew that this would all turn into a flop. But when Mary put a hand on his cheek and neared Luke to sit on his lap, he knew that Mary was happy.

''I love you'' Mary started, ''but I don't want to watch porn with you'' She said with a serious expression before bursting into laughter.

Luke just couldn't hold himself so he also started laughing his guts off.

And so for the rest of the night they talked and talked about everything between the sea and the sky with a few kisses in between.
