Hi loves. Before you start reading,I just want to thank you for sticking around. Initially,I said that 10 chapters will be published each week, but I am a student and it will be very difficult for me to do that as I have a very compact schedule so to ensure the proper continuity of this book,5 chapters will be published each week. Also,as stated earlier, writing is an art which gets better with time. Therefore, the first few chapters may be boring but please trust me,it gets better as time goes on. Thank you for your understanding. Do enjoy!
____________________I looked at the wretched wooden door in agony and confusion.Agony because I knew what was likely to follow after I opened the door and confusion because I did not know whether or not to open the door. Under normal circumstances,I wouldn't even be confused. Whoever it was behind the door would get tired and leave after knocking for a while. But today,I was so confused as the wooden door was a knock away from breaking down and we didnt have enough money to fix a new one if it broke. After having a quick battle with my conscience,I opened the door only to see a plump woman with her right hand on here waist with a basin beneath her left armpit tapping her feet impatiently.
"Good afternoon Ma" I greeted politely. She placed the basin on the cracked cemented floor and took a good look at me. "It would be a curse to look like that useless mother of yours. Go in there and call that witch for me. Tell her to come and face me like the woman she thinks she is." She ranted in Ga.
"She is not around please. If anything, tell me. I'll tell her when she comes back." I replied in Twi. Having stayed in Accra for some years,I understood Ga but found it quite difficult to speak,so I usually spoke Twi or English to save myself from embarrassment.
"Listen and listen good. I'm giving you 5 days, just 5 days,to pay me the money your useless mother borrowed from me. If I step foot here again and I don't receive the money, you'll curse your existence." She said with and with a loud 'hm', walked away.I stood there for a good minute in utter confusion. What just went on? I stared at her disappearing figure for sometime and went back into the room, closing the door gently. I sat on the tattered mattress and began to process everything. I honestly couldn't tell whether we could pay her back in 5 days as I did not know how much my mother had borrowed from her. As of now,we had nothing but 50 Ghana cedis on us and I doubted that that would be enough for her. In times like this,I wished that I could call God on phone and ask him what the hell was going on and why life was so hard.
I know you are probably thinking who is this and why is she talking to us like she has known us for years. To be honest with you,it's none of your business but since you seem so interested, let me tell you a little about myself and how my life went from 100-0 real quick.
