I looked around quickly to make sure that no one was around and walked to the office. I opened the door quietly, walked in and closed it quietly behind me. His office was messy. There were papers everywhere. I looked at the shelves and bit my lips. Where do I start?
I began to look through the things on the table. Some had names and others had a few calculations on them. None of them had the address of the house. The screen of the computer in his office was off,but I had a feeling that the computer it's self was still on.
I moved the mouse a little and the screen came on. It showed a website of travelling agencies. I could see that he had asked a few of them if he could book a flight for 18 people and this gave me the idea that the children that were being held captive were around this number.
I exited the page and began to go through the documents on the computer for information. I tore a piece of paper and began to write down information I considered vital. There was still no sign of the address but that did not stop me from looking through other documents some more .
The whole house was so quiet that I didn't have to listen hard to hear footsteps walking down the staircase. I began to panic as I looked for a place to hide.
"Dad?" I heard Jason call from outside the office as he knocked on the door. Grabbing the paper I was writing on,I quickly hid under the table, hitting my head in the process.Jason entered the room and from the small crack in the table I saw him walking closer to my hiding place . I held my breath as his leg was literally a few centimeters away from me.
"But I thought heard someone here..." he said to himself.
He looked around some more and grabbed a pack of cigarettes from the large stack in the corner of the table.I heard him putting of the light in the office and the place went black. He banged the door behind him but luckily he didn't lock it. I stayed in that position for a while, breathing slowly as my heart raced.
After about five minutes later,I got out from my hiding place and sighed. That was close. I sat down on the chair slowly and began to go through the documents some more. I needed to quicken up and get out of there. After minutes of going through the documents,I found a few addresses of some houses. I didn't know which particular one had the children in it so I decided to write all 5.
I folded the paper neatly and placed it in my small pocket. I walked to the door slowly and listened to see if I'll hear anything. No one seemed to be around,so I opened the door and looked around the hallway. No one was here and the lights were off. I went out of the office, closed the door behind me and began to walk to my room.
"What are you doing here?" I heard a voice ask and I stopped in my tracks. The voice obviously belonged to Jason and I cooked up a quick lie in my head.
"Oh I just went to get some water.." I said
"..you came from the office though.." he said, leaning against the wall.
"Oh no..it must have been your eyes" I said,as I resumed walking to my room.I refused to look back at him and walked straight to the room. I closed the door behind me and sighed.
That was so fricking close!
