____________
"Merry Christmas, Ron." I said to Ron as I handed him a present that had his name on the tag.
"Thanks." He said excitedly as he opened his gift, inside was a fork that has his name escribed on it and it was decorated with little designs. "A fork?"
I nodded, "Because you're always bloody eating."
Everyone in the circle began laughing at my reasoning, including Ron himself.
"This one says for Ginny." Fred read outload as he handed his sister a medium sized box that was wrapped in rainbow wrapping paper with a silver box.
"Oh that's from us, Dear." Mrs. Weasley said cheerfully as she gripped Arthurs arm.
In response, he kissed his wife on the head and let out a low chuckle when Ginny cringed at her parents affection.
"What a cute sweater?" Ginny giggled and half asked as she held up a lump of yarn.
"Hold it up." Molly clarified, clasping her hands together.
She did in which the green and red sweater revealed having Ginny's name in white across the front.
"It's beautiful, thank you mum!" Ginny said with glee as she went behind the couch to hug both of her parents. "I love it."
Fred and George opened their gifts from their parents then each held up a sweater that looks similar to Ginny's but with their own names on it.
Immediately, they slipped them on over their white shirts and stood up to show them off to the group.
"It's like looking in a mirror!" Fred joked as he looked at his brother at the same George said, "Wicked."
"Do a twirl!" Ced shouted from the chair he was sat in.
The twins looked at each other and spun in a circle at the same time, ending in jazz hands.
Both Molly and Arthur clapped from there seats while Ginny whistled.
Soon, each of the Weasley kids had a sweater with there names on it which included Arthur himself. Ron groaned when Molly motioned for them to all take a family photo.
"I think the last one is for you, Eden." George said, handing me a small box in yellow and black colors.
Hufflepuff colors.
I looked up at Cedric as I took the box, setting it in my lap gently.
He shrugged slightly as he averted his eyes from my direction.
Carefully, I pulled at the black bow so that I could take off the lid. I placed the piece of ribbon and the lid on the coffee table in front of where I was sat. Inside was folded white tissue paper as I began to pull it back and I couldn't help but let out a small gasp when I saw what was inside.
I reached in and pulled out a small journal that hand a hand painted daisy on the cover.
"Cedric, this is gorgeous." I said to him in awe as I traced the cover with my hand.
"When we first met, I was alone in a daisy field." He gave me a half hearted smile and continued, "So I painted one onto the cover with the word 'Welcome' on it because that's how I felt when you sat down next to me."
No one spoke as I carefully put the book back into the box and held it in my lap.
"That is a very sweet gift." Mrs. Weasley said directly to Cedric, breaking the silence between us.
He gave her a smile and a nod then politely excused himself from the room.
"If you don't mind, I'll be right back." I said to Ginny as I put the box onto the coffee table before I went after Cedric.
"Wait up, Ced." I called to him as he turned around to face me.
"What." Was his only response.
My hand reached for the front door knob as I pushed it open to pull him outside with me.
"Thank you for the gift." I smiled at him, hoping to get some kind of reaction, but nothing. "It was very thoughtful."
He brushed some snow that had fallen onto his shoulder off and straightened his collar out only to nod to what I said.
"Did you know that there are over two hundred species of owls?" I jokes, repeating to him what I had said when we were slow dancing at Nevilles party, when I was trying to make it less awkward.
He smiled for a second but quickly replaced it with a solid expression.
"Look, Ced, we all make mistakes but they're just stepping stones." I cleared my throat and reached out to touch his arm. "My mistake was not being honest with you about my relationship with Draco."
He looked down at where my hand was and I felt him tense up.
"I'll be honest when I say that it's just complicated." I moved my hand to my side and waited for his response.
"Are you his friend?" Cedric asked, putting his hands in his pockets.
"Yes." I replied while putting my weight on the front door of the burrow. "I am."
"You're serious?" Cedric rolled his eyes and shook his head. "You're actually his friend."
"He's really not as bad as people think and many are quick to judge." I clarified, getting annoyed at Ced. "Why do you sound so upset?"
"Because he is a horrible person!" He interrupted looking very annoyed with the situation.
"Really?" I scoffed and shook my head. "Do you know him, Cedric?"
He toed the floor boards of the Weasleys front patio and said nothing.
"Exactly. You only know what you chose to believe from people like Harry." I looked at him and he let out a breath. "Harry isn't exactly nice to him either. I know you're his friend but sometimes you need to find out for yourself if someone is a bad person or not."
"I can't believe you're really defending him right now." Cedric wiped his nose and turned to look at the snow falling in the distance.
"If I don't then who will." I said simply, touching the ring Draco had given me with my hand.
"Eden, come on." Cedric grabbed my arm in protest. "I didn't mean that."
"We tend to say the truth when we're upset." I shoved him out of the way so that I could go back inside to everyone else. "I don't have time for this."
