"You mustn't believe that all Slytherins are the devil spawn? We aren't that bad."
________
"I thought you were the ref?" I said as I approached a familiar hufflepuff standing next to the stand of the Quidditch field.
The weather had cooled down quite a bit from earlier so I was wearing an olive green sweater with light brown buttons. I had paired it with black trousers and a leather belt that my mom had given me.
"I usually do but I asked someone else to fill in for me for this match." Cedric replied, fixing his hufflepuff scarf.
I smiled at him awkwardly, the thought of earlier with a certain blonde filled my head.
"It was so nice out this afternoon. Now it's as cold as Snape when he's talking to Harry." I said, laughing a little at the thought.
"I thought you had studying to get done?" He asked, toeing the grass under his boots.
"All we do is study. Besides, I came to support." I shivered slightly from the cold and fixed a button that had come undone.
"Thank you for being so kind to me earlier." Cedric looked up, not quite meeting my eyes but enough that I could tell he was being sincere.
"Why do you sound so shocked?" I asked, my voice sarcastic.
He pointed to my Slytherin pin and put his hands in his pocket.
"You mustn't believe that all Slytherins are the devil spawn? We aren't that bad." I said, slightly annoyed.
"There is a boy in your house who is known for his," Cedric paused to look for the right word. "Well aggression, I suppose. You may know him as Draco Malfoy?"
I coughed slightly, taken back by Cedric's words.
"We um. Well our paths have crossed a few times." I said as calmly as I could, not wanting to give anything away.
Brilliant, I scolded myself silently.
Cedric gave me a confused look but shrugged anyway.
"Wasn't that vile girl from earlier also a Slytherin?" He questioned, making his point.
I nodded, shuddering at the thought of having to see Pansy's disgusting face tonight.
"I guess I've made my own assumptions about them, my apologies for bringing that onto you." Cedric said finally.
"Have you met a single nice Slytherin? My friend Blaise isn't so bad. Blaise Zabini," I said, hoping to clear up any negative thoughts about my house. "Do you know him?"
I watched as Cedric's face turned red and he looked to the side, avoiding my gaze as if he was hiding something.
"Our paths have crossed once or twice." Cedric repeated what I had said about Draco, interesting.
