The three friends wander around the case, watching the Erumpent settle back into her enclosure. Kai was sat beside Frank's enclosure as the Thunderbird sat with her. Suddenly a small knock was heard as Jacob and Kai look to Newt. He quickly runs into the little shed and up the ladder to exit the case. Kai follows him out to see a large group of people surrounding them and Tina Goldstein standing in front of them. Jacob follows the two to see the exact same thing. Kai quickly closes the case behind him before handing it to Newt.

"Scamander?" A British voice speaks as Newt turns towards the voice.

"Oh, hello Minister." Newt says as Kai spins in the same direction.

"Theseus Scamander? The war hero?" Another voice asks.

"No. This is his little brother. And what are you doing in New York? The same goes for you Miss Munro." The Minister asks the two of them.

"I came to buy an Appaloosa Puffskein, sir." Newt replies.

"Tourist." Kai spoke as Minister looks at the two of them.

"Right. What are you both really doing here?" He asks the two.

"Goldstein. Who is this?" Picquery asks pointing to Jacob.

"This is Jacob Kowalski, Madam President. He's a No-Maj who got bitten by one of Mr Scamander's creatures." Tina replies as gasps are heard all around the room. Kai watches Jacob to make sure he's close by them.

"Merlin's bread." Newt mutters. Kai follows his gaze to see a projection of a body floating around them.

"You know which of your creatures was responsible, Mr Scamander?" A witch asks.

"No creature did this. Don't pretend. You must know what that was. Look at the marks. That was an Obscurus." Newt says as gasps erupt around them.

"You go to far Mr Scamander. There is no Obscurial in America." Picquery speaks as Newt looks between her and the body. Kai knows that Newt's right, he knew his creatures and which ones were capable to attacking people.

"Impound that case, Graves." Picquery commands as the case flies from Newt's hands to a wizard sitting to the side of the President.

"Wait, no." Newt speaks before being interrupted by Kai.

"Give that back." Kai speaks harshly walking past Newt.

"Arrest them." Picquery orders as the four of them are on their knees, handcuffed. Both Kai and Newt try to fight against the magical cuffs but they don't budge.

"Don't hurt those creatures. Please. You don't understand. Nothing in there's dangerous. Nothing." Newt begs with tears forming in his eyes.

"We'll be the judge of that. Take them to the cells." Picquery speaks as guards grab the four of them.

"Don't hurt those creatures. Nothing in there is dangerous. Please don't hurt my creatures. They aren't dangerous!" Newt shouts as they're forcefully dragged out of the room. Kai felt tears fall down her face as she watched Newt beg. It hurt her to see his creatures be torn from him.

The four of them sat in a cell together, Newt crouched in the corner wiping tears that rolled down his face. Kai had her head against the concrete wall at the back, trying not to be angry with Tina. She understood that Tina thought what she was doing was right, but Kai couldn't help but be angry.

"I'm so sorry about your creatures, Mr Scamander." Tina spoke softly to the man crouched in the corner.

"Can someone tell me what this Obscurial, Obscurus thing is, please?" Jacob asks. Kai sighs before turning around to look at the rest of them.

"There hasn't been one for centuries." Tina says looking at Jacob.

"I met one in Sudan three months ago. There used to be more of them but they still exist." Newt speaks surprising everyone with his voice. Kai sits next to him as he leans his head against her.

"Before wizards went underground, when we were still being hunted by Muggles, young wizards and witches sometimes tried to suppress their magic to avoid persecution. Instead of learning to harness or to control their powers, they would develop what was called an Obscurus." Kai tells Jacob as she holds Newt's hand. Jacob sits silently, shocked by what Kai said.

"It's an unstable, uncontrollable dark force that bursts out and attacks. And then vanishes. Obscurial's can't survive long, can they?" Tina asks looking to Newt and Kai as Newt rubs his head on Kai's shoulder.

"There's no documented case of an Obscurial surviving past the age of 10. The one I met in Africa was 8 when she-" Newt pauses. Kai squeezes his hand gently, clearly sensing that this topic was sensitive to him.

"She was 8 when she died." Newt finished before resting his head against Kai again.

"What are you telling me here? That Senator Shaw was killed by a kid?" Jacob asks looking at the wizard and two witches. They all sit silently, knowing the answer was yes.

They all sat silently waiting to be moved. Newt and Kai were sat in the corner still, leaning on each other. Newt was inspecting her hand, studying every detail and scar.

Suddenly the door opens as three guards stand with handcuffs. The cuffs magically go round Newt, Kai and Tina's wrists before the guards drag them out of the cell, leaving Jacob alone.

"It was good to make your acquaintance, Jacob. And I hope you get your bakery." Newt speaks as they're escorted away from the cell. Kai looks back to see Jacob waving to them.
