Kai sat on the edge of the roof, with her legs dangling over the edge. She stared at the city as it slowly started to become darker.

"I'm sorry." Newt spoke from behind her. He looked at the spot next to her as she nodded. He sat next to her as he looked at her with sad eyes.

"About your family. I never knew." Newt says as Kai stares off.

"Not many people did. I begged the Ministry to keep it quiet. I still haven't told their friends and family." Kai says as Newt watches her try to hold back her tears.

"Grindelwald killed them for no reason." Kai says tears begin to fall down her face. Newt quickly pulled the woman into a hug as she began to sob into him. He felt tears roll down his face as he held her. She smiled as she felt Pickett climbing onto her shirt. Newt moved back as Kai picked Pickett up and placed him in her hand.

"I think he has a new favourite." Newt says as Kai chuckles.

"Graves always insisted the disturbances were caused by a beast. We need to catch all of your creatures Mr Scamander, so he can't keep using them as a scapegoat." Tina says from behind them. Kai slowly places Pickett back into Newt's coat before they both turned to face the others.

"There's only one still missing. Dougal my Demiguise." Newt says as Tina chuckles.

"Dougal?" Tina asks looking at the two. Kai just shrugs her shoulders, smiling.

"Slight problem is that, um, he's invisible." Newt says looking at the ground as both Tina and Kai stare at him in disbelief.

"Invisible?" Tina asks looking at man.

"Yes." Newt replies.

"How do you catch something-?" Tina asks as Newt quickly interrupts.

"With immense difficulty." Newt says awkwardly, trying avoid eye contact with anyone. Kai could tell he was somewhat uncomfortable so she grabbed his hand and gently squeezed it.

"Gnarlak." Tina says interrupting the two.

"Excuse me?" Kai says confused.

"Gnarlak. He was an informant of mine when I was an Auror. He used to trade in magical creatures on the side." Tina says as Newt quickly looks up at her.

"He wouldn't happen to have an interest in paw prints, would he?" Newt asks.

"He's interested in anything he can sell." Tina says as Newt looks down at Kai.

"Let's go find Dougal." Kai says before they head off.

Tina led them through an alleyway and down a set of stair which led to a brick wall. Jacob looked at the others confused while Queenie and Tina magically changed into dresses. The women both look to Kai.

"Fine." She sighs as she uses her wand to change herself into a dress. She stood uncomfortably as Tina knocked on the wall. Newt kept glancing at Kai before pulling her hand away from her other arm. She smiled up at him as the wall disappeared.

As they walked through the speakeasy, Kai noticed an elf singing through the crowd. Jacob and Queenie separated from the others, heading towards the bar. Tina and Newt sat down at a table as Kai stood not too far away from them. Not long after the group separated, Queenie caught Kai's attention and pointed in the direction of a goblin approaching Newt and Tina's table.

Kai watched closely as Newt began to take items out of his coat pockets. The goblin seemed interested in the egg that Newt placed on the table until something else caught his eye. Kai had slowly made her way closer to the table as she noticed the goblin pointing at Newt's pocket.

"That's a Bowtruckle right?" The goblin asks as Newt quickly puts his hand over his pocket.

"No." Newt says.

"Oh come on. They pick locks, am I right?" Gnarlak asks.

"You're not having him." Newt says looking up at the goblin.

"Well. Good luck getting back alive Mr Scamander, what with the whole of MACUSA on your back." Gnarlak spoke as he took up and began to walk away from the table. Kai was about to follow the goblin but Newt spoke first.

"Alright." Newt says giving in. He put his hand in his pocket and pulled Pickett out. She could her Pickett's whimpers as Gnarlak took him from Newt's hand. Pickett looked in the direction of Kai as she started to tear up. Newt tried hard not to let his emotions take over, but Kai could see that he was crying.

"Something invisible's been wreaking havoc around 5th Avenue. You may want to check out Macy's Department Store. Might have what you're looking for." The goblin spoke.

"One last thing. There's a Mr Graves who works at MACUSA. I was wondering what you knew of his background." Newt asks as Tina looks at him confused.

"You ask a lot of questions Mr Scamander. That can get you killed." Gnarlak says smirking. Kai gets an uneasy feeling as the goblin smirks.

"MACUSA are coming!" A house elf shouts before disappearing.

"You tipped them off?!" Tina shouts as she stood up. Gnarlak laughs as people disapparated out of the speakeasy. MACUSA aurors appear around the room as Jacob slowly walks over to the goblin.

"Sorry Mr Gnarlak." Jacob says before punching the goblin square in the face, knocking him out. Kai stares in shock as Newt quickly scrambles to find Pickett. Before Kai could help, Tina quickly grabbed her arm. It wasn't long before Newt grabbed onto the group and they apparated away.
