The three guards pushed them into a small room where Mr Graves was sitting at a table. Two guards grab Newt's shoulders, forcing him to sit in the chair on the other side of the table.

Kai angrily tried to move towards the two guards that forced Newt to sit, but another guard grabbed her and held their wand to her neck, threateningly.

"I'm alright Kai." Newt spoke softly as she stared at her. Kai looked to Newt, meeting his sad eyes as Mr Graves watched the two closely. Kai willing stood down, allowing the guard to remove their wand and stood silently next to Tina.

"You're an interesting man, Mr Scamander." Mr Graves commented as Newt stared at the table.

"Mr Graves." Tina started to say as she moved forward. Graves put his finger to his lips, telling her to be quiet causing Tina to step back again.

"You were thrown out of Hogwarts for endangering human life." Mr Grave states.

"That was an accident." Both Kai and Newt say as Graves looks at the two unimpressed.

"With a beast. Yet one of your teachers argued strongly against your expulsion. Now, what makes Albus Dumbledore so fond of you?" Graves asks staring intensely at Newt.

"I really couldn't say." Newt says avoiding eye contact with the wizard sat in front of him.

"So setting a pack of dangerous creatures loose here was just another accident. Is that right?" Graves asks as Kai raises her eyebrows at the man.

"Why would I do it deliberately?" Newt asks before Kai could open her mouth.

"To expose wizard kind. To provoke war between the magical and non-magical worlds." Graves states as if the answer was obvious.

"Mass slaughter for the greater good, you mean?" Newt says as Kai shakes her head slowly. She knew exactly what Graves was trying to say.

"Yes." Graves nods looking between Newt, Kai and Tina.

"I'm not one of Grindelwald's fanatics, Mr Graves." Newt says finally looking up and making eye contact with the man.

"I wonder what you can tell me about this, Mr Scamander." Graves says using wandless magic to pull the Obscurus out to show. Kai turned to see Tina's mouth drop.

"It's an Obscurus. But it's not what you think. I managed to separate it from the Sudanese girl as I tried to save her. So I wanted to take it home to study but it cannot survive outside that. It could not hurt anyone."  Newt speaks. Kai's eyes soften at the man as he speaks about the girl he tried to save.

"So it's useless without a host?" Graves asks. Kai pulls against the guard that is holding her arms, knowing Newt was getting angry.

"Useless? That is a parasitical magical force that killed a child. What on earth would you use it for?" Newt asks staring at the man. Graves looked at Newt and then make eye contact with Kai. It looked almost as if he was panicking.

"You fool nobody Mr Scamander. You brought this Obscurus into the City of New York in the hope of causing mass disruption, breaking the Statue of Secrecy and revealing the magical world." Graves says standing up.

"You know that can't hurt anyone. You know that." Newt says as Kai tries to move forward but is pulled back.

"You are therefore guilty of a treasonous betrayal of your fellow wizards and are sentenced to death. Miss Goldstein and Miss Munro, who have aided and abetted you, receives the same sentences." Graves orders as Newt begs for Tina and Kai's lives. Grave tells the guards to carry out the sentence immediately as they drag the three of them out. Tina sobs loudly as they exit the room, Newt tries to put up a fight while trying to get Kai to say something. But she had nothing to say.

"I'm so sorry both of you. Truly sorry for dragging you both with me." Newt says as they are escorted to their deaths. Tina let out a small sob as Kai just continued walking.

They entered a white room, with a chair floating over some form of death potion. Tina sniffled behind Kai as Newt stared at the girl.

"Please let them go. They had nothing to do with this." Newt begged the guards. They ignored his requests as he stared at Kai.

One guard escorted Kai to the edge of the death pool, readying her for the sentence. Kai looked back at Newt with small tears forming in his eyes before she turned away. The guard used her wand to extract her memories as Kai falls into a calm state.

The guard throws the memories into the pool as it begins to show Kai's memories. The first memory that begins to show is her at Hogwarts, being sorted into her house. Newt could hear the sorting hat shout Hufflepuff as Kai smiles at the pool.

"You wanna get in?" The guard asks Kai. She nods as Newt tries to stop her. Kai sat on the chair before it flew over to the middle of the death potion. Memories played around her as Newt tried to hold back tears. Many memories of Newt and Kai appeared as she smiled down at them.

Suddenly a memory is shown of a young girl with orange eyes surrounded by fire and a bird. Kai's calm presence suddenly changes into a panicked state. A voice begins to speak, a voice that Newt recognises as he sees his older brother talking to Kai the day he was expelled.

"Newt needs good people around him. And that's not you." Theseus says to Kai before another memory begins to play.

Screams erupted the room as the memory shows Kai cradling a dead body, her mother's body. Grindelwald had killed her family for reasons that are unknown to her or anyone else.

As a guard raised their wand to Newt's hand, he pulled away with no cuffs around his wrists. He threw his Swooping Evil, causing the guard's wand to fall into the death potion. Suddenly the liquid rises as the memories that haunted Kai continued to play. The liquid touches the foot rest of the chair, causing Kai to come out of her trance.

"Newt!" Kai shouts as he turns quickly.

"Don't panic." Newt says as Pickett unlocks Tina's handcuffs.

"What do you suggest I do instead? Sit and quietly have a cup of tea!?" Kai says sarcastically as Newt whistles at his creature.

"Jump." Newt says simply as both Kai and Tina stare at him as if he were insane.

"Newt, I won't make it." Kai says simply, staring at him.

"Jump on him." Newt says watching the creature fly around her. Kai looks at Tina before watching the creature.

"Kai, I'll catch you. I'll catch you I swear." Newt says as the death potion gets closer to her.

"Go!" Newt shouts as Kai jumps, hopping onto the creatures back and then landing into Newt's arms. He wrapped his arms around as she let out a sigh of relief. They hugged each tightly before Newt pulled away, placing his hands on her cheeks.

"I'll always catch you." Newt says as Kai nods awkwardly. He pulls his hands away, one grabbing onto her hand and the other quickly grabbing the Swopping Evil and running out the door with Tina beside them.

As they ran through the basement of the place, Aurors appeared casting spells at them. Newt let the Swooping Evil go again as he easily took down the wizards. They found him on top of a wizard, staring at him.

"Leave his brains. Come on!" Newt says as the creature follows, protecting them from spells. The Swooping Evil flies back into Newt's hand as they continue to run towards the exit.

A set of stairs were spotted ahead of them as they continued to run towards them. They quickly skidded to a stop as Jacob and Queenie appeared in front of them. Tina smiled at her sister, happy to see her as Queenie and Jacob looked between Kai and Newt who were still holding hands.

"Get in." Queenie says as the four of them do what she said.
