Jennie could feel a hint of envy as she was watching Rosé and Jisoo at the airport, hugging tightly as if the world around them didn't even exist. People were walking around them, but they weren't even noticing, they just stayed embraced, whispering in each other's ear.
"Promise me you'll take care of yourself."
"I will, don't worry. And thanks for the present, it was very sweet, I'll keep it close when I miss you." Jisoo referred to the plush dog toy which Rosé had gifted her the day before.
"Call me when you land, okay?"
"Of course. I'll call you every day."
"Everything is going be alright, you'll be healthy again, I know it." Rosé whispered and gave Jisoo a peck on the cheek.
"I know it too, one month will pass quickly, you'll see. I can't wait to come back. To you."
"Aww, don't make me cry." Rosé tried to force herself to smile.
Jisoo just sniffed and they stayed in silence, still in a hug, oblivious to everything happening around them. Jennie decided to give them more privacy so she strolled away a bit, a hollow feeling in her chest. How she wished that Lisa had come too and had given her a hug like that... "This isn't how I wanted to leave things between us." Jennie thought. "We even argued on our last conversation over the phone, that's so messed up... I could have at least explained better why I'm going away. But it's too late now-"
Her thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the sight of a familiar slim, blonde girl looking at her from afar.
"Lisa?" Jennie was so thunderstruck that she couldn't even move for a moment, her feet glued to the floor. "Oh my god, she came?"
Seeing that the Thai wasn't brave enough to approach her, Jennie hurried towards her, almost running, swiftly passing people on her way.
"I'm... I'm so glad you came." Jennie only managed to say when she finally got closer.
"Yeah, I-" Lisa anxiously bit her lip. "I guess wanted to say goodbye before you leave."
"Oh."
An awkward silence. A very long awkward silence. So terribly awkward that Jennie flinched nervously, looking at the tip of her shoes, unable to look up.
"What a disaster." she thought. "I just witnessed the closeness between Jisoo and Rosé, how sweet they are to each other. Why Lisa and I can't be like them? And they haven't even had sex yet, while Lisa and I have done it so many times that I know every single part of her body by heart by now. I licked whipped cream off her breasts for fuck's sake. But I'm not even able to tell her that I'm going to miss her? That's so fucked up. Why are we like that?"
Since the silence was becoming unbearable, Jennie spoke:
"Listen... uhm, I just thought I should go to Japan because of my sister, she might need support-"
"Yeah, I understand." Lisa replied, not knowing what to do with her hands, so she put them in her back pockets, looking all stiff.
After another moment of silence, Jennie dared to glance at blonde's face again, which seemed clearly more melancholic than usual. And that's when she realized that Lisa made the first step, she came to the airport, swallowing her pride... It couldn't have been easy for her. "And besides it's me who's leaving, so it's my turn to make the next step, I have to say something..." Jennie thought desperately. "But what? What should I say to her?"
